• It does go back and forth to agitate counter to the tub direction. The agitator also can be removed as well for flexibility.

• The agitator does not spin separately from the tub. It moves with the tub. Yes, it does move back and forth to scrub the clothes. I like that I can remove the agitator at any time that I dont want to use it.
