“Is it normal for the washer to not drain after washing? Most times after washing I have to manually go back and press the drain and spin button. I’m confused on what I’m doing wrong.”

I have only run across that issue when I accidentally set the spin cycle to "none" (single dot) during a wash cycle. Depending on the size of your load of laundry you might need to select higher level spin cycles. If this isn't the case for you, I would suggest contacting Whirlpool support.
