Yes and no. Most of the features are available with the watch and free app. But if you want to view historical data or see reports or share those reports with your doctor, you will need the subscription to do that

All the features are accessed through the free Withings Healthmate App. It allows you to setup and view all the data it collects. This includes the step counts, heart rate, sleep tracking, and ecg features. Withings does have a subscription plan which helps with guided fitness goals, more insights to what the data means, cooking recipes, but it's not required.
