• Wifi provides a reliable connection regarding updates. I use verizon mifii which is smilar to a hotspot with more reliabe speed.

• Would not recommend a hotspot over WiFi but yes it would work, the Xbox allows Xbox supported devices to connect via Bluetooth or Xbox wireless connection.

• You can use a hotspot instead of WiFi just might be slow, and yes you can use Bluetooth with it.
