“I have a gateway computer from 2014. It has windows 8 OS. Would this card improve the performance for the Mass Effect Trilogy game? Right know it's kinda laggy”

You need to check your system specs to see if it will support PCI 3.0. The card is bus powered but it will need at least a 450-500 watt power supply. Most prebuilt systems will use a power supply to power the original configuration and maybe a little extra (for additional RAM and HDD’s). If the motherboard has a standard ATX connector (20-pin or 24-pin), you can try buying a higher wattage power supply. But check you system specs on the manufacturer’s website first.
