• 2 hdmi outputs the same signal. For example, the same signal can be output to 2 TVs.

• Not sure if you are talking about separate zones of output. Pretty sure the zones are for audio and that is so you can turn one zone or separate room on or off. I have a PlayStation and Apple TV hooked up and one output going to the tv. You do have to switch between the devices on the stereo to use them. Not sure if this helps.
