Questionwith this receiver can I play music in another room ,other than where the TV is. can this be fed with a digital signal. example : fire stick into a HDMI input with Sirius to play music in my office and not in the room where the Receiver is located

- Answer Yes, I have two zones for my setup. Zone 1 powers my 5.1 home theater speakers and Zone 2 powers two outdoor speakers for my deck. I have the Amazon Fire cube hooked up to HDMI1 and Verizon Fios on HDMI2. I'm able to run the FIOS through Zone 1 and listen too Amazon music through zone 2 at the same time. Zone 2 can be turned on by pressing the Zone 2 on the front of the receiver. There is a Zone 2 source selection button that allows you to select the right source for zone 2. The app does a decent job walking you through the setup process. Hope that answers your question.

QuestionCan the legs be taken off (unscrewed) to make it a little more compact . I have a space but it’s exactly 6 inches in height.

- Answer Taking the legs off is a bad idea. Receivers need ventilation. If resting flat on a shelf a receiver can overheat.

QuestionWould these work for klipsch R802F? They are 8ohms. When I look at the product feautures for this receiver, it says 8 ohms but then I look at the specifications and it says minimum impendance 6 ohms.

- Answer Yes, I have that exact setup and it works great. The Klipsch speakers are very efficient and can easily be driven to high levels.

QuestionCan this receiver bring voice control up like some of other yamaha receivers . Im stuck between this and the 680 , Ihave bad hearing and have a really hard time hearing dialog.

- Answer Hello, Your satellite box receiver should plug into HDMI 4 on your receiver and Your output HDMI should be in The ARC HDMI, which should plug into HDMI 1 on your TV. Do not use the ARC port on your TV, it’s hit or miss on your TV.

- Answer The RX-V685 has two (2) transmitting/receiving antennas located on the back of the unit in the upper left & right corners. The antennas are identical, but transmit different frequencies, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I know these antenna both receive and transmit because I have my RX-V685 "paired" with a tablet device, and a 21 year old Yamaha RX-596 stereo receiver at another location. A Logitech Bluetooth adapter (receiving antenna) is now the Tape-1 input. The RX-V685 allows full house coverage.

QuestionI see a lot of systems that have 2 subwoofers. Does this support 2 subwoofers and are 2 subwoofers that necessary and if so what receivers support 2 subs.

- Answer Yes, the 685 definitely supports 2 subwoofers. Two aren’t usually needed if the subwoofer chosen is powerful enough. It pays to do research in terms of room size before selecting a subwoofer. Even though two subwoofers aren’t needed, it’s wise to look for receivers which support two in case needs change in the future.

- Answer Yes. Bluetooth in and Bluetooth out both work. They need to be turned on in settings to work - each is independent of the other.

QuestionDoes this unit have an AM - FM - XM receiver (if I get an XM license) that channels can be programed in? On my second zone can I double up speaker wires on ports to run more than 2 speakers on the second zone? Is this different than straight #RX-V685?

QuestionTwo part question: Has anyone used the bi-amp option and is it worth it? Is setting up Bi-amp with a 5.1.2 setting possible? Instructions shows options as 5.1.2 + 1 Zone and 5.1 Bi-Amp, seems like it would be the same.

- Answer I bought this receiver 2 weeks ago, and noticed last night that the woofers on my Infinity Beta 50s were not working. I had originally hooked it up only to the front connections on the receiver. This morning I realized the problem, I didn't have the bridge between the 4 speaker connections connected. I did wire it as biamp like the manual shows, and now all speaker components are working great. Be sure and select the Bi-amp in the settings on the receiver.

QuestionI see the two gold posts for the WiFi and Bluetooth on the upper left and right with no antennas attached. It does not list that the WiFi antennas are included. Do I need to buy dBi WiFi antennas for the wireless hookup?

- Answer The unit I purchased had antennas attached. Also somewhere in the instruction manual it says that antenna should be raised, or pointed up, for reception.

- Answer Your output from vhs player does not have hdmi, you will have to use rca out from your player to the amp. It's an excellent amp though for a home theater.

QuestionIs there a way to play 2.0 audio through all speakers? 5.1 or 7.1 setup? i bought this receiver then realized youtube tv only sends 2.0 audio. I only get audio from left and right speakers while watching YouTube tv.
