These speakers are designed to mounted inside drywall, there are 4 little anchor clamps, similar to those used to install retro electrical boxes or mud rings. I personally would not feel comfortable installing these in ceiling tiles, the speakers are probably weigh 5 o 6 pounds each and given how soft ceiling tiles can be, I don't think you could get a good enough connection to securely hold the in place. With that being said, if you want to put a board up behind the ceiling tile to carry the wight of the speaker, there is enough room for the bracket to fit into over an inch of material, the instructions don't see anything about it, so you would be on your own to figure out how to do it, but with the proper backing behind a ceiling tiles, these speakers will work and they sound good, especially for the price.

I think it is ultimately at the installers discretion, the ceiling tile itself would crush as you tightened the mounting clamps so you would need to put some sort of backer behind it. I personally would place a 1/4" piece of plywood behind the tile and cut a hole through that as well to help distribute the pressure and support the speaker, if the bracket system on the ceiling could handle the weight. You need to consider how much lighting way and if it is independently supported or not to determine whether or not this would work in ceiling tiles, there are too many variables to give an accurate answer, but with the proper experience and consideration and possible changes yes this could be mounted in a ceiling, however, it could also fall out, so best bet would be to have it professionally installed and plan on possibly having to spend extra to deal withs the ceiling tile.
