Does this work with the bumper? Are both neccessary? null

yes it would work with or without bumper but in my opinion its safer with the bumper though it has to be a bumper that has a good grip cheap ones will peel of the corners

I use an armor bumper and the screen protector lifted. If you use a good bumper then no screen protector needed.
