If you are going to buy HP ink - buy the XL
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This would be a 5 star review if the price would stop going up on these cartridges and if they would last as long as they are supposed to last. It now costs me $120 to refill my printer with black and the three colors. Crazy. Unreasonable. HP pushes you to do the "Instant Ink" which is even more upsetting. Of course, if you attempt to use non HP brand ink - your HP printer will reject it and not work. I am going to leave a brutally honest review. What good is a review if it isn't honest? I have had multiple HP printers that use 902XL and the problem isn't the printer - it is the cartridges. It is hit or miss on these ink cartridges today. They are supposed to last x amount of pages with x% of ink coverage on the pages. They never come close anymore. I am printing invoice detail on pre-printed invoice stock - so basically just a few lines of text. This is nowhere near the % allotment they estimate the cartridges to last. I keep saying I am going to switch to a printer that has ink tanks (the way printers should have always been) but that would cost me even more money to start all over and HP knows that. These printers have become disposable as the printers themselves end up failing in 2-3 years. Every single time. The ink level displays on my printers always show the cartridge has more than 25% of ink left - yet when trying to print, no ink is comes out or there are streaks all over the page. When you pull out the cartridge and try to shake it, the cartridge is completely empty. The ink is completely gone - substantially faster than it was supposed to be. I will never understand the greed at HP and why your printer will not just print black ink only. If you are out of any of the 3 colors of ink - nothing will print. Even if you change your settings to black only. Laser printers will print with black only toner with no issues. Even more upsetting is that I have all my settings to print "Black Ink Only" - and I print in black and white only yet my HP printer still depletes the colored ink cartridges. When you take the cartridges out, you can tell they are not completely empty despite what the printer display shows and there is absolutely no way to override the printer to keep using the cartridge until I say it is empty. Don't even attempt to pull a color cartridge out like yellow and print with just black ink. I am not sure how HP has been able to get away with doing this to customers. Your choice is to find another printer or deal with it. I have been loyal to the HP brand with all my printers and computers for 35 years. I don't understand my brand loyalty when I know this. We won't talk about the issues I am having with HP laptops failing after x amount of years. I still buy HP printers and I still buy computers. I bought this HP ink. I will never learn my lesson. I am choosing recommend this product because you cannot use off brand in your printer and not have your printer malfunction if you have an HP printer. The review is asking for a photo. I have taken a photo of my HP 6978 printer with an old cartridge box and a new box next to it. I was going to open the cartridge cover and show it being changed but I wasn't sure if that's what BB wanted for the photo?

Ink cartridge
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buying this product is a total win—fast, effortless, and super convenient. No more last-minute store runs or empty ink cartridges catching me off guard. Best of all, they almost always have exactly what I need, and the price doesn’t break the bank. 10/10 would recommend!

Very disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very, very disappointed. I purchased this online, and it came very quickly. The problem is I went to open the almost $50 ink cartridge, and it exploded when I moved the orange plastic piece. My carpet at this point is ruined and I lost have the ink! At the least I would have expected Best Buy to replace the Cartridge. I mean it does have a returnable date of Jan 16, 2021

Posted .Hi Jax,
I am very sorry that that you had this experience. It sounds like the cartridge might have been damaged in transit.
It is important to carefully unwrap this type of cartridge. While leaking is more common with refills, it can also happen with a damaged or defective cartridge.
There is a vent near the cartridge label that will normally open when the tab is pulled completely loose, and the outer plastic covering is removed from around the cartridge. That vent has to be open to prevent the cartridge from leaking when you twist off the orange tab prior to installing the cartridge. On defective and remanufactured cartridges, you might have to clear the vent with a straight pin to keep it from leaking
You can return it or exchange it either to the store or by mail. Information about that can be found at:

902xl black cartridge need to be replaced
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The black 902xl doesn’t work! Ink is in the cartridge, but will not adjust to print black! See copies! The other 3 colors cartridges, print great! I’m very disappointed, because I truly needed to print black copies! Please sent this correct black

Exploding ink tanks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this today, I was twisting off the orange tab and the dang(being nice) thing exploded in my hand. Not a happy camper. I was able to remove about 90% with paint thinner. Ya might want to wear gloves when using HP ink tanks, I know I will next time. Heading back to BB

HP printer ink
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an HP product. I believe that HP has greatly improved the quality of their products in the past few years. This meets the printer specs and is the only brand that works well in HP printers. A little more expensive, but the results are great.

Reliable, long-lasting cartridge that just works
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had consistently good results with this HP 902XL black ink cartridge. Installation was quick, the printer recognized it immediately, and print quality has been sharp and dark with no streaking or fading. The high-yield version definitely lasts longer than the standard cartridge, which means fewer replacements and less hassle.

Great ink cartridge for home use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP - 902 XL high yield ink cartridges work great for normal home and home office use. The cartridge is easy to install and provides excellent quality printing. Our computer and printer serves our 16 year old grandson with his needs for on-line classwork currently required as a result of the covid 19 virus. High quality printing is essential for my wife in her business making original hand made greeting cards. The entire family use the printer and ink cartridge in normal daily communication activities. The HP 902 XL cartridge is outstanding in meeting our printing need in an efficient cost effective manner.
