This vacuum appears to do a great job. The way to dump the canister is different from both of my previous dysons, but I think I have the hang of it now.

You press the trash button and it is suppose to open at bottom and push it back in place. Doesn't always close. Taken it back once and got a replacement.

Posted .Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've encountered short run times with your V8 Animal. Your machine offers two suction modes - regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine is going to be set to MAX. This mode provides a boost of suction making it ideal for larger messes or more stubborn debris. This mode does give less run time - about 7 minutes or so. Regular power, which should be sufficient for everyday cleaning, will give you up to 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on if you're using the motorized floor tool.

Does NOT pick up anything the size of a dime or bigger. The dogs track in chucks of dirt/mud from the backyard and it doesn’t pick them up, only finer particle. That’s why I’m giving it a 4/5 instead of 5/5.

My dog sheds constantly and this picks it right up! The only downfall is the amount of dirt and grime it can carry. It could be a little bigger.
