Posted .Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've been disappointed with the run time from your V8 Animal. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Having a shorter run time does sound unusual, and we'd value the opportunity to go over your machine with you.

Posted .Hello Andrew, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've found both run time and suction to be disappointing in your Dyson V8 Animal. The Dyson V8 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner has a run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box, otherwise, when not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 40 minutes of fade free power or 30 minutes when using the motorized floor tool.
When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.

The powerful direct-drive cleanerhead removes ground-in dirt and pet hair from carpets, and self-adjusts to pick up dirt and debris from your bare floors.
Dyson V8 Animal also features two suction modes; MAX and standard. While regular power is suitable for most household messes, you may find that some debris is more stubborn to pick up and does require MAX power mode. While in MAX power, your unit will receive a boost of power, making suction more powerful. When fully charged, you can expect run time from 7-40 minutes, depending on which suction mode and tools you are using.
