    Apparently not technically enough qualified to know that these cables come out of the box with caps over the ends. And.... nowhere in the instructions does it tell you "remove the caps" before trying to install." Returning to the store was the only way I found out (via a sales person) of the caps.

    I have used optical cables on several connections, and had great results, but there are some caveats. The Sony Roku TV warns that all optical connections are stereo only. HUH? so cannot get surround or sub? Then, although the optical cable fit the TV, it did not fit the socket on the Onkyo receiver! so I could not use the optical even if I wanted to sacrifice surround sound. What's up? But the optical cable was excellent on some other equipment, and Rocketfish makes quality gear, so .. there you have it. Check the connection ports before you buy!
