You just have to make sure you choose the right size UPS for the equipment you want to keep running when the power goes out.

This keeps the router running during the flickers, so no down time.

Protects from the occasional/short power interruptions that would normally cause a reset. If you purchase one, it does take a few hours to charge up before putting into use.
