Several friends suggested the Epson Fast Foto FF-680W Scanner. Upon their suggestion, I decided to try the scanner. I found the scanner to wrk more efficiently if it was connected via USB. The Epson software that is downloaded is erratic, not dependable and very slow. The scanner time is fast but the software takes a long time - sometimes very long time to process what you scanned and quits frequently. Epson support was never available via phone. The software for the photo scans is set up with limitations - it seems like the software is very outdated and not user friendly. Overall, I am sure it would work for a user that has some experience. The scanner is manufactured poorly. The scanner must be cleaned constantly.

The Epson FastFoto FF-680W is fantastic! We had a Fitjitsu for years but had gotten outdated when Windows 10 was released so my wife bought the Epson. Trouble was she had it on her desk and it became a hassle every time I needed it so we purchased another. She uses hers mainly for documents and receipts but I use mine just for scanning photos. With several totes full of pictures the Epson makes scanning them so fast. If you're on the fence about purchasing one then jump off and run to Best Buy to get it. You will not be disappointed!

Great quality scans and fast processing! Digitizing family photos can be a daunting task and this scanner makes the process so much easier than scanning one photo at a time on a flatbed scanner. My wife and I scanned an entire photo album yesterday and it only took about a half hour to scan over 200 images. Most of the effort is spent removing the photos from the album and re-inserting them afterwards. Scanning is the easy and fun part of the process. The really fun part is seeing your small photos come to life on a big PC monitor screen. It would be a simple step to later organize photos into slide shows if so desired for a simple presentation. We scanned at 1200 dpi with auto-correct turned on. The software offers the ability to scan and keep the original photo, then generate a separate photo with the auto-correct applied. However, in almost every case we preferred the corrected version and turned that feature off. Another great feature is the scanner's ability to scan the back of the photo whenever writing appears. This speeds up filing the scanned photos if you are organizing later by date. Once the photos are organized, you can then just delete the backside image unless of course the handwriting is sentimental, and you want to save that as a photo memory as well. The scanner does not remove dust specks or scratches which would be nice feature to have, but the quality of the scans is good enough that in most cases further editing is unnecessary. Another great feature is the wireless connectivity, so you can place the scanner on a large table or work area and have access to the scanner as part of your "assembly line" workflow. Lastly, this can be used as a document scanner with some additional software from Epson. That's probably something we will check into after all of our boxes and albums are scanned.

I have not used it yet. I need a lesson. I am afraid of damaging priceless family photos. It would be nice if they offered classes at BB on how to use the various equipment that they sell. So, it's been over a year and is still unused. To drag it back to the store seems unnecessary. Why are they demonstrating some of the appliances and equipment that they sell. You would sell more.

This scanner exceeded all expectations. The speed of scans were exceptional and the quality of the scans were terrific. The color and lighting corrections made old faded or discolored photos look like new. Prior to the purchase, I had balked at the price but once I used the product I was thrilled with the results. I’ve scanned over 3,000 photos without a glitch… with one exception: Polaroids can be a bit problematic due to their thickness.

Scanner was extremely easy to set up. Software installation and connection (note: for scanners I prefer a plug-in connection and not wireless) to a Surface Pro was seamless. The user manual provides sufficient detailed information to select the user specified settings to meet your needs. The quality of the scanned photos was excellent for for archiving family photos. 1. I selected the highest resolution along with with the option to color correct and scan hand-written text on the back of the photo. This results in three files per photo. 2. you can select a jpeg or tiff file 3. you can select amongst three photo types (standard to panoramic) as my photos are from the early 1900s to the 60's, the paper sizes and paper quality varies. So far, I've had no issues with jamming. Basically, use common sense with old, frayed edged photos. I have fed the photos through singly and in batches of up to ten without issue. so bottom line....I'm very happy with the unit so far.

Our goal was to digitize all of our photos and organize them in a cloud based online family album. We succeeded in doing this in part due to this product. By far this is the best print photo scanner for the money on the market. Not only does it scan batches of prints in various sizes, it enhances the photos as you scan with built-in technology. Be aware it doesn't scan slides. You will need a different scanner for that. There is also a limit on the size of print, both large and small, that can be scanned.

Buy this one if you have LOTS of photos you need to digitize. You can scan batches of 50 photos all at once. If you sort your photos carefully both by size & date, subject &/or date, the scanner will ask you several questions prior to scanning then create the proper folder system for each batch of photos. Also, it can scan multiple page documents front & back on one pass. Then you get a chance to edit everything before it stores it! Fantastic!

This scanner is great! I have not used it personally but my husband has and he loves it. Like so many people, over the last year we have been "cleaning out" all the bins and boxes that have been put aside. My husband has been scanning pictures and he said it is fabulous. You can load many pictures at one time and he said it is just amazing how quickly they all get scanned. I do wish it would take 8x10 size and/or slides, but it can't scan either. Even with that drawback, it is still a great product.
