Never thought I’d love it as much as I do

I find myself asking Alexa questions all the time, setting alarms, playing music etc. It’s more useful than I expected.

Great way to take the Alexa plunge

The big Echo has great sound; the earlier Dots, well, they're OK, but really you'd want to connect a speaker to it. The 3rd generation, though, is much louder and has the sound quality of an equally priced Bluetooth speaker - but you get Alexa interactivity along with it. You do need a smart phone and the Amazon Echo app to use it. The first time it will take a few minutes to get it up and running, but if you want to add one for another room, it will barely take a minute.

Sound isn't great for music, but it's decent. The kids love playing games. Honestly I use it as a timer in the kitchen as often as anything. Handy for all sorts of things.

Decent sound from a small speaker

The sound quality is definitely better than previous generations and the microphone picks up sound clear across the room (sometimes from outside the room it's in). But networked together these also act as an intercom (you can announce to all echoes when dinner is ready, for example). You can also set them up to play music altogether, which is nice around Christmas time or when we clean house. Great price around Black Friday or other sales on Amazon products.
