First, don't pay full retail for them. They go on sale all the time with steep discounts that only Amazon controls. At the low price they are great value. This one does both 2.4G and 5G wireless and connects easily and fast.

These are so fun and convenient to have. I bought one for a friend for Christmas. She loves it! They are scattered all over the house in different rooms. Great for communication and announcements, among other wonderful things Alexa can do.

Some people might like this type of devices but I will not be using yet another spying device in my home. Received it as a gift.

This is our 4th Alexa. She lives in the kitchen and complements her friend in our bedroom. She is great when it comes to cooking, giving us accurate timing just by asking. She is much better than our old timer and does the weather too.

This color is nice. It blends in with your home surroundings. It has a nice sound too.

She is really the V.A lf the family. She keeps my toddler entertained, I do my workouts with her and she controls my TV for me. She is pure awsome sauce. I am also excited about the Alexa guard feature that has rolled out as well. Pure peace of mind.

This is a big improvement in sound from the original Dot. Worth the upgrade or first Alexa. Get it.

Nice speaker but very small, limited sound but good for small spaces

I'm using this primarily for home automation, and I'm having tremendous fun learning what this little device can do. I've been heavily involved in computing for 40 years, and the Echo Dot has helped make computing fun again!

Works better than our google home system, so that is a plus. I like the convenience. And "Alexa, thank my driver" is a pretty cool new feature.

I like the echo dot the only thing I really hate about it is that, it has to be plugged into the wall. But Alexa is nice.

The best alarm clock ever. Also great for streaming music. Just the basics make it amazing. No more reaching for the snooze button or struggling to set your clock Alexa may not know everything but Alexa knows a lot!

My husband said he bought this so I would have something else to boss around besides just him. So far, its worked out well for both of us. Alexa is a trooper and does what she's told.

We use this all the time and even find ourselves calling out to Alexa when we're not at home out of habit. That being said, she will randomly come on and say she didn't catch that when we weren't talking either at all or to her. She won't pull up certain things like music if it is in a different language, info on certain topics, etc. Nevertheless, we still use it. Decide which is more important to you. Helpfulness or Creepyness

Does not have an option to connect to a WPA2 wireless network. Anyone with a Bluetooth connection can also hook to them without your knowledge. I had a neighbor who kept connecting their phone to my first/second gen Dot via the bluetooth and this 3nd gen appears to have the same issue. I did not have that issue with the regular size Echo. Stick with the regular Echos if you want an Echo. Their security is much better.
