The washer would start up and stop while the door remain locked, so we had to go behind the washer to unplug it every time this would happen. Eventually, the washer would stop working every time so we called Maytag for repair. Maytag sent an authorized repair technician who sepnt few hours and determined that there was something wrong with the locking mechanism of the door. He told us he would check on the warranty status and call us back in a few days. An few weeks go by we did not hear from the technician so we contacted Maytag again I was set up with another appointment with the same technician from 1-800-Appliance. It was clear from the start that the job required two people because there is a stacked dryer on top of the washer. The technician damaged my wall and the dryer door while attempting to remove the dryer. Long story short, the repair was not completed but I was left with a damaged wall and a dryer. I called Maytag regarding this and the representative basically told me that I had to deal directly with 1-800 appliances and that I was on my own. So BEWARE, it is bad enough that the washer failed withihn 1 year of purchase but Maytag will not take any responsibility or provide any assistance if something goes wrong with their "authorized repair technician". Since Maytag is owned by Whirlpool, I'd stay away from Whirlpool as well.

Very few problems, had our other set for 12+ years was working perfectly, only reason we bought new was because we sold our house and new buyers wanted them.

If you have pets, plan on hiring a repair man every 3 months to come open this thing up to clean out the fur inside.
