Overpriced for short lifetime
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this in-store, so I understood that it only covers half of the iPad when its closed. I don't like the feel of the keyboard but whatever, the real problem is that it started having trouble connecting to my iPad within two years of purchase. Honestly, if it absolutely stopped working as a keyboard it would be better, because right now it's random whether or not it will work, which has it swapping me between it and the on screen keyboard repeatedly. I'm sure it's just a roughed-up connection in the foldy part, but since its meant to fold and unfold repeatedly, and I hadn't put it under particularly strenuous use, I consider it losing connectivity so quickly to be faulty design. Wouldn't complain if it weren't so expensive in the first place.

A truly horrible product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn’t if I were you. It’s nice when it works, but give it a few months… it will start disconnecting randomly and not responding. The soft/flexible connection of the case means you are constantly stressing the inner hardware that is critical to this stupid thing working properly. Mine has had its glitchy moments ever since I bought it, but I thought that’s just “how it was.” Well, now it has completely stopped working, Apple will not repair or replace, and said my only option was to buy a new one. Why on earth would I buy another when Apple clearly doesn’t even stand behind the product to start with? Google “iPad Smart Keyboard not connecting” to see how common and well-known this problem is. Expensive, poorly designed trash.

Great, until it wasn’t
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product a couple of years ago and then it suddenly stopped working. The keys wouldn’t register on the iPad’s screen. Surprised that Apple makes such quality products that stops with mo way to repair it.

When it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Occasionally my keyboard works. When it does, it’s a pretty decent experience. HOWEVER, it usually takes several minutes to get it paired and nearly every time, I need to try restarting my ipad, disconnecting and reconnecting, and/or wiggling the ipad around on the keyboard stand until it sits just right. It’s incredibly frustrating for an expensive ipad accessory. I understand the need for a keyboard but was hoping to avoid Bluetooth connectivity issues by purchasing one that physically connected. Apples customer care is notoriously horrible and they tried to charge me $185 to have the keyboard repaired. I recommend purchasing another keyboard from a company with better customer service. I understand once you’re in the apple ecosystem, it’s hard to switch to android or windows tablets, but there’s no need to suffer through their keyboards as well.

stopped working after 3 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a "excellent" open box keyboard, which stopped pairing with my new iPad after less than 3 months. Best Buy has a 15 day return policy (and of course asked if I had purchased the extended warranty, which I had not) and refused to take the return. Best Buy, I ask you rethink your return policies. Amazon will take back a piece of broken equipment after their return period expires. Apple will, too. We won't be buying from Best Buy again, that's for sure. So read the reviews of this item online first (which I didn't do, it's an Apple product, right?) and you will see that these keyboards tend to fail after a while.

Inconsistent Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had two Smart keyboards in two years. The first one lasted me 1.5 years before the keys stopped consistently working and only worked intermittently before it finally died. The second one lasted one month before that happened. For the price, this shouldn’t be happening. Imagine typing notes but then your keypad suddenly stops working and, instead of taking note, you’re too busy fiddling around with the keypad to get it to work again. It is extremely annoying. Just google it- this happens frequently. I would have recommended this keypad after my first one. But this will be my second $150 purchase in three months, and I’m over it. I shouldn’t have to invest in 3 keyboards. I’m moving onto a Logitech and hopefully that will be a better long term investment.

Dead after 2 years low use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this keyboard for about 2 years and maybe used it a half dozen times as I use the regular cover mainly. After that time, the keyboard will no longer work. All the software is up to date. Save your money and get an aftermarket one.
