It took about three weeks to get a replacement. So far the replacement is holding up pretty well but just pray you don’t have to engage with support for this thing because it’s a nightmare. Email instructions don’t make any sense, takes them forever to get back to you. I had pretty high expectations because this is a $600 ice machine that only does one thing. When it works it’s amazing and my wife loves it, when it doesn’t well you know the rest

Returned the ice maker and bought another based on the assurance that no others had the same issue. Second time around, same thing occurred. We are in the process of working with GE to get this second one returned to them and see if one direct from their factory will have better results. Perhaps this was a bad batch of machines to one best buy store. We will love it and the ice it makes if it continues to do so without the horrible sound. I have been told by GE that this is NOT the noise of it defrosting and is definitely not the way it was intended to operate. I will adjust my review once I know I have seen one work to its fullest.

TERRIBLE ICE MAKER

Like a dummy somehow I overlooked buying the protection plan from Best Buy. The ice maker was still under warranty and got a huge!! run around trying to get a replacement. The customer service person I first spoke with at GE was telling me to do all these things to troubleshoot that aren’t listed in the owners manual, second person I spoke with was far more reasonable and helpful, but still had a bunch of hoops to jump through. I bought this thinking spending this amount of money it would last. Cleaning is a LONG process and needs to be done every 8-12 weeks and the machine has to sit for 18 hours. The machine is heavy!! I’m sorry I bought it!! It looks really nice, but ultimately who needs a $550 paperweight? When it was working it was great, GE knows there is a problem with this model and when you call customer service it’s bad.
