Bought this in August 2022 and it still works great! Pretty quiet!

This review is strictly on the ice maker. The first one worked as it should until it started making a very loud noise. Obviously not right. Packed it up and returned to Best Buy for an exchange. Machine two showed signs of refurbishment and then leaked water from within the housing. Repack and back to BB. Exchanged for machine three. Seems to be working now now there weeks. The part? Having a Best Buy warranty on purchases saved me from blowing a head gasket. The BB staff solved my problem each time and left me genuinely glad to have purchased from Best Buy. So, I'm saying I think this ice maker is top notch BUT we had to go through two of them in a month and number three is still in the honeymoon stage. But the whole family just loves this ice.

This thing was amazing at first. Made a lot of nugget ice pretty quickly. Over time it started to get louder and make some awkward noises. Five months later im left without a functional $500 ice maker and GE is taking foever to honor the one year replacement warranty. This was cleaned every 3 weeks using their opal cleaning solution as instructed. Read reviews elsewhere, this thing is junk.

Good for the first two months, but starting to have problems detecting there is water in the tank. The machine has to power off and on to detect the water.

Great. No complaints. Well i guess just to nit pick it leaves water every time you open the door.

Opal is a wonderful addition to my office. The unit works very well and it's very easy to operate. The side tank is a recommended addition.

Worked for a week. Ice making is slow. Makes a sound akin to roadkill dying. Never worked. Varies from displaying add water, to making ice, to defrosting. Thats all it does. Only positive, since it’s a piece of crap and doesnt make ice, it stopped making that deafening screeching sound

The machine arrived slightly damaged on the rear corner. The machine worked well for about 5 days and then the add water indicator would come on when water was in the side tank. The machine stopped making ice u til it was reset to fill from main tank and side tank was troubleshooted for issues. Nothing worked. The machine started making ever increasing loud squeal sounds and I was afraid it was going to explode. I followed the machine instructions and troubleshooting but nothing helped . I returned the item no exchange’s because I didn’t want to deal with the hassle. My experience I felt was not worth the price if it were to broke down.

We wanted a nugget ice machine. Compact and independent water source. This was the answer to our prayers. All the extra features like melted ice water recycles to water tank. Connected wifi, and makes 23lbs of ice in a day.

We love this ice machine. I would definitely recommend buying this item.

Great addition to our home. My daughter actually said it was the best purchase I have ever made. Would recommend but it does have a little motor noise. Recommends weekly cleaning.

Much improved over the First Build version of this product. This is the third version, GE second version. Much quieter, better ice drawer, less leaking when pouring into storage bags. We can't do without it.

I purchased this for my birthday this year for our houseboat and we LOVE it! Very simple to set up and use. The ice tastes great! Very happy with this purchase although we did feel it is over priced.

This gets two stars only because it worked well for about 8 months. This ice machine now cycles its way through defrosting and making ice, constantly. We'll get a full, fresh batch of ice only for the defrost to come on until the ice completely melts. Regardless of how well this worked previously it's not worth the cost in the long run.

This ice maker is the best thing I’ve bought in a long time.

Ice maker is nice but you think for $660 dollars with tax it would come with a water filter!!!! You have to order that separately!!!!

Works great until it doesn't. Cleaned it one time and have never been able to get it to make ice again! I've primed it multiple times, cleaned it, drained it, re-primed it and nothing works!! It will circulate water through the machine as if its going to make ice and then says to add water even with the reservoir full. I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to get it to prime and it'll get a strong suction going and a minute later it says add water. And of course it's out of warranty

Works perfect. We will see how long it does that. I hear 2 yrs is about max life.
