I liked the idea of a freestanding unit because ice-makers built in to refrigerators notoriously break down. When I saw this unit makes softer ice pellets like what you'd get at Sonic, I decided on this model. I'm well pleased and the money I'm saving on Sonic's "Ocean Water" will pay for this machine... in maybe ten years at this rate, ha. Don't judge the first pieces of ice that get made, they were kind of extra-hard and I got worried. A couple hours in I had some nice, more "fluffy" pieces. Mind you, the texture is not fluffy like shaved ice, but not rock solid either. This machine is giving the unanticipated bonus of helping me increase my water intake, so I'm happy all around.

Great machine, love the small ice chips but it is a little loud

If you like the nugget ice this is the ice maker for you. Now it is a bit noisy that’s for sure. But if you can get past the noise I think you’ll be happy with the output of ice.

Great little machine, with plenty of ice generating power. It is compact enough to keep on top of kitchen counter where it gets plenty of use.

this thing is awesome delicious ice made with water fed from a Brita filter perfect texture, can be very soft when freshly made because of room temperature but i keep a bin in my freezer to get extra cold

Love it!!!! I haven’t used my ice maker in my fridge since getting this. My kids like it so much that they will stop and pick up a ziplock bag full. Always enough ice. Easy to set up!

Honestly, its grown on me. I was supprised how smalla dn wondered if it could keep up with the ampunt of ice we use. I hardly ever see it empty even when we have friends and family over. Its been great!

Friends come over you payed $600 for a ice maker! And when they leave ice is gone! Everybody says it’s loud well not to me and it does great!

Have used it every week since purchase a year ago. Great for iced lattes, iced tea, and just to eat and its softer than regular ice. I made plenty of ice ahead of thanksgiving and its performed well the day of. It’s just as eye catching as my espresso maker although not as pretty and shiny. Pricey but no regrets and no more weekly trips to sonics for their ice.

Been contemplating this purchase for some time, when our other counter top ice maker finally died we took the plunge. Best thing we ever purchased! Works so much better, cleaner and faster than our previous machine. We only use pre-bottled water to cut down on contaminants and as frequent cleanings. Highly highly recommend purchasing

Love this ice. It's easy to use and makes ice fast. The only downside is that it is a little loud.

The ice maker in our refrigerator is unreliable, so we bought the Opal 2.0. My family uses it every single day. Even if the ice maker in the fridge suddenly started working again, we still would continue using this machine. If it constantly churned out pellets, it would get 5 stars. For some reason, it will occasionally produce uncompressed shreds of ice. Just as randomly, it will start working again with no intervention.

I LOVE OPAL! She is an amazing ice maker! when I brought her home and made her part of our family it was clear that she was the new favorite electronic child. She makes pellet ice, and does it without complaint hour after hour. I use a Zero water filter to fill her tank. Once you get one, your freezer ice maker will miss you. (I cant even tell you the last time I used the ice dispenser on my freezer.) Thank you GE for a great product. Thank you Bestbuy for putting it on sale in front of me and causing the impulse buy that brought this amazing product home for me and my family to enjoy!

Great product. Excellent ice just like Sonic. At times can be loud when transferring water from the tank to the ice maker. Overall love it. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Outstanding product and my wife and I love it. I would not trust the Total Tech membership though. I was lied to multiple times and it cost me money and time. They have suddenly changed their policies and many of them were changed to things that cost me money and they told me nothing they could do. They may change warranties and policies on you if it saves them money. Buy the ice maker though… great product.

This ice maker has proven to be a reliable and efficient appliance over the past month. Its rapid ice production and conveniently located side tank enhance its functionality. Additionally, the availability of a dedicated app allows for convenient scheduling of ice production. Based on these factors, I highly recommend this product.

this little pebbly ice maker is the BEST!!! so convenient and easy to use, and our favorite ice maker by far! Does a great job and fills up quickly!!!
