Pros: Makes ice really quickly and it feels like is never empty! Instructions were easy to follow and quick to assemble! Cons: I'm digging here! Maybe that the water tank will need to be filled as frequently as you consume the ice! (I Figure this would be expected)

It hardly runs out of ice. It makes drinking anything from ice water to soda a pleasure. I sits on the counter next to the refrigerator. It’s pretty much quiet I would recommend it to everyone.

At first it always said to add water even when it was full. I don't know why it suddenly stopped and began to work properly. We like it so far. Don't regret the purchase. 5⭐ so far.

We had to replace it in January 2024 under warranty for the horrific screeching noise. Now, August 28, 2024, it has gone out again with a different issue. Because it is out of warranty, it’s not replaceable. We used distilled water only, as well. Absolutely not worth the money. There are posts all over the internet about this. It’s great until it’s not. And it is a product that just does not last.

Posted .Thanks for sharing your concerns as they are valued and welcome as we continually strive to improve the products and services we offer. We do have a couple of tips to share. Even when using distilled water in your Opal, it is essential you follow the instructions in the online Owner's Manual to descale and sanitize the ice maker on a regular basis. We strongly encourage you to provide a minimum of 3" of air clearance on all sides as well as the back of the unit and to periodically, use a handheld vacuum or an attachment on your vacuum cleaner to clean the vents on the sides or back of the unit. We understand your disappointment and hope we have the chance to restore your faith in our brand.

It makes crunchy ice fast. It is able to keep up with 5 adults and kids with no problems. It alsonis perfect for smoothies and drinks.

Now it makes noises on its cleaning cycle that are so loud we are forced to shut it off which of course keeps it from making Ice .. Working through Best Buy now to exchange it. I will say that before It was 5 stars accross the board!!

Absolutely loved by the whole family as well as any visitors we have had. Don’t know how we made it without one.

We use Alkaline water for the ice and it is amazing in drinks. We turn in in the morning and by Noon, we have aleniugh ice for the day! We bought the 4 year extended warranty based on other reviews that say it is a must to have the warranty!

Purchased almost 2yrs ago and still love it. The ice size is perfect. The ice taste depends on the quality of the water. We use filtered water so the ice is perfect. Worth it!

Amazon has it but it looks like there's real problems with that model they're selling. This one runs like a top, is quiet and makes ice quickly. Mine is not loud, haven't had it long I pray it keeps working great. I use distilled water only

Posted .We know an issue with the Opal not producing ice consistently and making excessive noise would be concerning, and we want to help. You may want to make sure the ice chute isn’t blocked, as that could cause an issue with ice production. Following the cleaning instructions starting on page 7 of the manual (which you can view on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page) would help with an issue with blockage. You can also try resetting the unit by unplugging it for four hours before plugging it back in. Regarding sounds, we do expect the Opal to make some noise as it operates, and information on what sounds the unit may make is available on page 13 of the manual. If you aren’t able to resolve the issue with ice production and/or the noise seems unusual, our Opal Support team is available at 1-866-907-6718; they’d be glad to assist further.
