The ice was great, and it worked really well until it didn't. After about 8 months of ownership, it started making horrible squeaking noises. We watched some YouTube videos and tried to fix it to no avail. Still loudly squeaking. Not worth over $500 for only 8 months.

Posted .Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear that your unit is causing a squeaking noise concern. If may be that that your unit is going into defrost mose We have found that your Opal Ice Maker Dispenser will defrost when it is needed. When your Opal needs defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice begins to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic and usually takes about 10 to 20 minutes. This is a normal operation. What is not normal is if your Opal Ice Maker Dispenser is going into Defrost mode too frequently, for example, every day, or goes into Defrost but there are no audible sounds indicating that the auger is frozen. If this happens, it is highly likely the air vents are blocked. If airflow is constricted, the machine will not produce ice normally. We would suggest reviewing the troubleshooting tips for this in your use and care guide from the website here (page 14)-https://content.syndigo.com/asset/6156244d-7fe1-4d30-bf7b-ce7ecd405b25/original.pdf. If you find that after troubleshooting, you are still experiencing the loud squeaking then please review the warranty details at the same link (page 19). Dianna@GE Profile

I don't think this is 500$ Price point. We use it a lot. My husband found a way to hook up water to it. So we don't have to keep refilling the water revivor.

Purchased a "First Build", a GE Profile first generation, and now this Second generation GE Profile Opal Ice Maker. This latest model is noisier than the prior to versions, but a sleek design.

Have wanted this ice maker for 3 years, but so glad I waited for the newer version. The ice is amazing and will save so much money in the long run not having to continually buy bags of sonic ice. Setup was easy. Don’t hesitate to buy this machine.

It's so quiet and doesn't take as much counter space as we originally assumed. Only time it's noisy is because the vibration of it making ice sometimes vibrates against the wall and it can be loud. Nudging it makes it stop.

Only issue we have had is about a week ago it started making a really loud engine type noise like something was trying to start. We emptied it and unplugged it overnight. Since then we haven't had any other issues.

This item was delivered to me looking like this… it was supposed to be open box excellent condition. First of all the box was not even fully closed, the ice maker was not wrapped or protected in any way. When I took the product out I noticed the water tank had water droplets in it and was cracked! Called customer service and after 30 minutes on one call and 10 on another all that was solved is I can bring it in to return it or exchange it… this should never have been sent to me like this. And the fact that I can’t talk to anyone at the store to confirm this item so in fact there so I don’t. Waste more time is absurd.

After using this for a month I am so happy that we purchased it. The ice is amazing! And the machine works great. Worth every penny. My dog love it too!
