Impressive power at an impressive price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to pick up the Series S recently and haven't had a single regret. It's a fantastic little beast of a machine. I intended to use it as a companion console to my PC or other consoles, but it's ended up being my place of choice to play games. Things like Quick Resume and Smart Delivery sound like marketing jargon but are serious and tangible benefits in my experience. Saving three minutes every time you sit down to play, switch, or download a game adds up over time. The Series S is a tiny and whisper-quiet machine - again, has to be experienced in person before it truly sets in. The icing on the cake for me is the insane catalog of backwards compatible games, which has made this an unexpected and awesome nostalgia machine. This is a digital console but since I had to get rid of my disc library years ago, I've had to rely on things like Game Pass and the digital storefront, both of which have robust offerings from the past and present. I can confirm that you should absolutely be picking up Game Pass with this console - that's an insane library of quality titles that will be ready to go as soon as you set this thing up. If you're at all on the fence about this because you're worried about performance, storage, or long-term viability, don't be - I've probably used this for 100 hours of gaming alone since picking it up a month ago and look forward to many more. I have over 40 titles loaded up, many of which are backwards compatible titles that shine on this console, and still have plenty of room (over 100GB) to spare if I want to play any big, modern AAA titles. The Series S punches well above its weight and price class, and you should absolutely go for it if you have the chance to pick one up.

Great Console for a Great Price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compact and powerful, if you are not focused on extremely high gaming at 4K resolution or higher this is the console for you. Easy to set up (via XBox app) and connects seamless to you hone media devices. Connection speeds rival any previous Gen XBox and load times are super quick. We bought this for our son who is off at college so transporting to to and from is simple and fits right into his luggage.

Perfect Budget Next Gen Console
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was wanting to get a next gen console and couldn’t justify paying $500 for a ps5 or xsx, so I bought this. I was worried I’d regret buying the “cheap” version but after having it for about a month I love it! Compared to the Series X, it plays everything with the exact same performance and pretty much the same graphics (i was able to compare to my cousins series X). I have been playing Cyberpunk 2077, which has been running flawlessly (although I did turn off some graphics settings to improve frame rate). I love it and would recommend this to anyone in my situations. I would not recommend however if you fit any of the following: 1. You have a 4K tv. This only plays in 1440p. It doesn’t look bad on a 4K tv, but the series X looks way better (again comparing to my cousins console). 2. You have a collection of Xbox game discs. This device doesn’t have a disc drive, so you can’t play your physical games. The Xbox Series X is completely backwards compatible and would be a better option for you. 3. You have an extra $200 to spend. Don’t get me wrong, I love my series S. But the series X and the PS5 both have twice the storage, can play physical copies of games, can play in 4K, and have a 4K Blu-ray player. If I was made of money and had more free time I would’ve gone with the $500 consoles in a heart beat. In the end, if you are someone like myself who is a more causal gamer, doesn’t have a 4K tv, nor a collection of physical games, this is the way. Also this would be good for a child’s first console who wouldn’t know any better in terms of screen resolution and FPS. If you have the $200 lying around for the upgrade however, I’d go with the Series X

I LOVE This Console
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was one of the lucky ones that was able to buy an Xbox Series X when it released. With that purchase, I shuffled my One X to the mancave. Well, that console must have got it's feelings hurt and it decided to stop working on me. So, I went out and Best Buy actually had a Series S in stock. I instantly grabbed it! This console is incredible. First off, I cannot believe how small it is. Seriously, it has a tiny footprint. Second of all, it's rocks with performance. Yes, you are only getting 1440p (with 4K upscale if you have a 4K TV), but it still packs a punch and looks great. Oh, and let me mention how insanely quiet it is. Even though it's the little brother of the Series X, you still get the quick performance with the new SSD technology, ray-tracing graphics, and the capability of 120fps (if the game and your tv supports that). It does only have 512gb (as I am sure you are aware), so I would definitely have/use/buy an external hard drive to store your games on. They even sell the SSD expansion card if you are looking to spend the money. Overall, even with owning a Series X, I love and play this console all the time. If I feel like hanging in the mancave and playing video games, I am not bummed at all that I get to play on a Series S. You will love this console!

Great Little Console
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for my son. He had a One S. Small but has some weight to it. We plugged it in and went through the setup with the app on his phone. Very easy to do. My internet is 500mbs download and 20mbs upload. The update for the console took only like two minutes. He downloaded Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War and all the expansion packs and updates in 6 minutes. This and the update would have took hours on the old console. So is it fast ? Yes !! Load times are fast also. Graphics and gameplay are excellent. Got the 1TB expansion card. Call of duty and all the add ons if I remember right took 86GB so that still left a lot on the internal drive itself. So was it worth the money ? I think so. Will the old One S play a game like this one would ? Yes. But you just have to be a little more patient that’s all. An avid gamer or real technical person would notice the differences more. But anyone would notice the difference in load times and speed. I would recommend this console to anyone thinking about it. (If You Can Get One lol) Hope some of this info helps ! Happy Xbox Hunting and Happy Holidays to everyone !! P.S. we didn’t even try the controller. We paired his ultimate controller right off the bat.

PERFECT!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Xbox Series S is an incredible gaming console for its price. It’s compact, super quiet, and delivers smooth performance with fast load times thanks to the SSD. Games look amazing even at 1440p, and Xbox Game Pass is a game-changer with access to tons of great titles. The digital-only setup is super convenient, though the 512GB storage fills up quickly—expandable storage helps with that. If you’re looking for an affordable way into next-gen gaming, this is it!

Hindsight WOWIE ZOWIE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With Hindsight, this was an amazing deal! Now Microsoft is charging an arm and a leg...an another arm to get the budget Xbox. Without hindsight, it was a good deal. With the old way of thinking in the games industry, I would've thought the Xbox series S would be $150 or at worse $200 by 2025. If I wanted to I could sell mine for a profit, but the portability with modern gaming is too good to give up (yes i know about Steam deck, Rog ally, Switch- which I have, etc.). I'm shocked how much I've traveled with this thing. However, 512 GBs of space is diabolical for a digital only console AND you can only use Microsoft made up SSD's. The Xbox software takes at least a third of the space.

Great little Gamepass machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little console (emphasis on little). It's not going to get you 4K/60 FPS in all games but this console is for folks that don't care about that but still want a "next gen" experience. This has the same fast storage as the Series X so load times are super fast on almost everything. Fantastic for Gamepass as there is no disk drive here so digital games is all you get. This is a great secondary console or unit for a secondary location (I have an X in the Den and an S in the downstairs rec room). I do have 2 complaints...one is general to the Series consoles and that is storage expansion cost. Was hoping other vendors would be offering solutions but it's currently only Seagate and the price is high. The other issue is specific to the Series S and that's the fact that it doesn't play the Xbox One X enhanced versions of games due to a lower memory spec than the One X. This means that when playing older backward compatible games that were enhanced for the One X (which released in 2017), you don't get those enhancements and are playing the standard Xbox One version. Not a huge deal as we move forward into the new gen but worth pointing out. TL;DR, Great little console, storage fast and gamepass is great.

Great Value
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is really a great value. Fast load times and great graphics. Perfect for Xbox Game Pass. The Series X is superior in the graphics department, but honestly I don't think I would be able to tell the difference unless I had a top of the line TV (I have a 55" 4k with HDR, but only 60hz). The only real issue is storage and I ended up getting the storage expansion, which was kind of expensive.

Super Small and Super Fast
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Crazy fast and super small. I am amazed at how well this device works and it looks great on my 55 inch QLED tv. I would recommend an external SSD due to the intense size of current games. Aside from that it is a great unit and super fast. Highly recommend! Great job Micrsoft!!

Great Console in a Small Package
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I’ll start off saying my primary console is a PS5, I wanted one of the next gen Xbox’s to play the exclusive games. I didn’t have super high hopes for this console as it is the entry level Xbox instead of the Series X. However, I was very wrong. This little thing is fast, has good graphics, and you can’t go wrong with Game Pass. When I’ve had Xbox’s in the past, all my games have been digital anyway so the Series S works great for me. For $300, this is a fantastic console especially if your game library is mostly digital. The only drawback I’ve found is the storage space that’s available. Out of the box, I believe you get around 360 GB which isn’t a lot considering the size of games nowadays. I ended up getting the Segate 2TB external that works perfectly with it, it was around $100.

Too good it is true!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Props to Microsoft. They blew my mind with this one. Xbox series S is super tiny like the Wii but more powerful. I love the quick resume and the game pass. The price is really good for those who don’t want to spend much. I do hate that it doesn’t take disks tho it’s a shame Microsoft do be going digital in the near future.

Good bang for your buck, nice size and design.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid value for $300, and I like the design better than the Series X. Really nice size. The Xbox game pass included is also a good value. I'd rather have this than the Series X if you're not concerned about 4K and having disc compatibility. Glad they made a next gen console that's relatively easy to be purchased. Also the controller is comfortable.

Exceeded all expectations.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my Series S for about 9 months now and WOW... just wow... Fantastic performance. decent amount of space for games. Compact design. Quiet. Since almost anything electronic has been difficult to find, the Series S was in stock more often then the other next-gen consoles. I was slightly gun-shy to buy since the big brother has better performance benchmarks BUT dont let that fool you. This little beast exceeded my expectations and then some. I dont really care about full 4k nonsense considering my home receiver doesn't operate in that realm. 1080 is perfectly fine for me. The games look and play fine and the UI is easy to learn (coming from a PS guy) and Gamepass is a no brainer. Tons of games, old and new, and many exclusives and it can be used on PC. Whats not to love about that? My only gripe is the small drive space but I knew that going in. My external works fine for non-X/S optimized games so I can easily move the games around if needed or redownload. All in all its a great buy and highly recommend.

Here we are....
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everybody knows the deal, if you're looking at the Series S it's due to either your budget, or the Series X always being out of stock. My situation was both haha, but lets get to it. I highly recommend getting this console since it is fantastic! I recommend you make sure your monitor or tv have HDMI 2.1 that way you can use 120Hz. The load times are fast, it's extremely quiet, it boots up fast, it's a small console so it fits in many places as well. I'm currently playing 1440p at 60Hz on my monitor but that's due to being lazy and not putting it on my other monitor to use 120Hz. There are differences in terms of performance between the Series S and X but the price difference just makes the Series S much more appealing especially since you can play with 120Hz. In my opinion what you can do is get the Series S and play on it, but if the time comes where you can get a Series X then buy it and sell the Series S to pay for the difference. Just my experience and thoughts that you can do, but I hope you as a potential buyer have fun with your choice and enjoy it!

Entertainment and enjoyment
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this console for a few months now and I am extremely impressed with its style and performance. Its smaller in size to the Xbox Series X console, but it does have its advantages. It fits nicely in tighter spots and you can stand it upright for space saving efficiency. Its also energy-efficient despite what the critics say. This system is the start of the future of cloud gaming. The installation process wasn't as bad as I thought. I also like that this console can be used for entertainment purposes as well. For those of you looking for a game system that is versatile, flexible, and affordable; you won't go wrong with the Xbox S series. Note: You will need a steady Internet connection that will allow you to stream your games. This particular console is ideal for people who don't want to go broke or currently are watching their budget; but don't want to miss out on all the enjoyment and entertainment that the Microsoft X-box games have to offer. The price for the X-box All-Access Pass is not bad at all. There are a lot of goodies that come with the subscription.

Xbox Series S - Excellent NexGen Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Xbox Series S is a fantastic upgrade from previous generation consoles - specifically Xbox One. The loading speed, quick resume, ease of connectivity, reduced size, quiet operation and portability of the device are all big pros. This console is responsive without any real noise or heat issues that are noticeable with other consoles. At current price point of $299 this Xbox was a great option for upgrade to keep up with more powerful games. Minor cons include: -The internal 500GB (approx. 364GB available) hard drive mean users need to balance game files and usage vs. access to external storage devices or internet access. -The current SSD plug-in marketed for these new generation consoles cost almost as much as the console itself. Better off looking into HDD to cold storage games you are not currently playing and would rather transfer over instead of re-download. -Given it is an all digital device, no option for disc based games but there is easy access to GamePass as with other Xbox consoles. Overall very pleased with device after 6-months of continuous use.

Great entry point to next gen
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this console in addition to the Series X. I use this on my non-4K television and I am very impressed with the performance of the console. The is a good way to get into the next generation at a lower price. Storage is small, but it is not a problem if you play few games at a time. The console is fast, quiet, and compact.

Great value console
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Xbox Series S is a great value for the money and a worthy upgrade from the old Xbox One. It is small and lightweight and is very quiet. Be advised it does NOT have a disc drive. I thought I would miss having the disc drive but I do not. Everything you need, you can download off the Microsoft store. No discs = no hassles. It obviously is not as powerful as the Series X, but you won’t even be able to tell the difference. The only thing I really don’t like about it is that the system hard drive is a meager 512GB. You can get a 1TB expansion card, but in 2021 they are still very expensive, but they are expected to drop in price down the road a bit. All in all, I would recommend the Series S, especially since at the time of this review, the Series X is still nearly impossible to find.
