Customers are saying

Customers commend the Xbox Series S for its affordability, compact size, and impressive performance, especially considering its price point. Many appreciate the ease of use and fast load times, along with the benefits of Xbox Game Pass. However, some users point out limitations in storage capacity and the lack of a disc drive as significant drawbacks. The console's resolution capabilities also receive mixed feedback.

Great console, poor communication and packaging

After wanting the Xbox series s for over 8 months now, I have finally purchased it on the 4th. The console booted up faster than ever and the quality of the console is outstanding! Although the console is and was well worth it, it was a pain trying to communicate with employees on when its arriving due to UPS and BestBuy saying different delivery dates and status. I tried calling support to fix this issue but the employee on the phone had very poor attitude alongside hanging up the phone right after. When I got the console, I was going to video tape unboxing the console until I saw the extreme damage to the box. There was a hole inside of it and the box looked like its been shipped and used multiple times. With the poor communication and poor packaging, I doubted it would even turn on. Nevertheless, it turned on and was a complete mood changer. I was set up in less than 10 minutes and playing games within a hour alongside with the complete powerhouse technology. It is record breaking, not only the size of the console (being the smallest console ever) but the technology built into it. I would recommend this console over all the others due to the portability of the console and the power to the console. There is also that hefty 200 dollar price differential. Although it is a great deal, have caution while buying it from BestBuy, at least I didn't have the best experience!

It really is a blast. Really the only thing that sucks is the storage but thats what you expect when buying it. I bought this with the external storage and it is perfect. Handles all the games i throw at it. I play online a bunch with my friends, PUBG is a big one. Console has no problem with games online, runs very quiet which i love. I do love the game pass but i mainly buy games from the store. Ive been a xbox gamer since day one and this little wonder is amazing. I opted for this one since the tower was still back ordered. I do recommend getting this especially for the price. Just be prepared to get extra storage devices then your golden.

I still have no idea how I managed to order this AND have it shipped/delivered all within 1 day but I’m definitely not complaining! I ordered this for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it! It’s the perfect option for a “budget” next-gen experience. My main critique is the rather low amount of internal storage given the obnoxiously large file size of games nowadays. Thus, I highly recommend getting an external hard drive which I know you can always find good deals on. Just know that you can only play next-gen games if they’re installed on the internal drive. You can still move those games on an external drive for the sole purpose of storage which still saves you from having to delete and re-download them.

The most underrated console. It has the best value and with Game Pass, it only makes sense to buy it. I unfortunately returned it just because I was able to get a Series X. Don’t sleep on this one, it truly offers such a great performance to value ratio. I mostly play FPS titles like Call of Duty and was able to get 120fps at 1440p. It’s only a matter of when before I get another Series S for the bedroom. If you don’t have a 4K TV/monitor then this is the console to get. If you do have a 4K TV/monitor, this is still a worthy purchase in my opinion. It plays so much smoother and better than some entry level PCs. Also, it’s so quiet you almost don’t even know it’s on.

I wasn’t looking for the new Xbox, but I’m glad I got this. The system is much faster than my Xbox one and love that all my games are digital. No more switching disks to play different games.

just a couple of years ago my family decided to go all digital because of the non disc drive feature.I have 3 kids that are still little enough to break things as kids do. The small design makes it easier to not take up a lot of space to not be in the way to get easily knocked off and broken which is a bonus with having children. The con is that there is not a lot of memory if you are a adult hard core gamer that likes to have a ton of games already loaded instant to play. This console is highly good for if you have children and if you are only a casual gamer that does not play a vast variety of multiple games. all said it is still a great product with one unspoken bonus of not having to have a bunch of game cases taking up a ton of room.

Awesome console to complement a series X or if you have a 1080p tv. In my case.. It functions as a second console on my 1080p tv.. so it’s great! And incredible that you can get the series s at this price point!

I am writing this review after 5 months of use and I can say that the series s has surprised me in every way. The series s is a great deal for those who can't afford the series x. The graphics it delivered are way better than I ever expected for the price. I mainly play multiplayer games like Apex Legends and Warzone and I can say that the graphics are beautiful and the frames are stable. I also played some games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and was amazed by the visuals. Overall if you can't afford the series x this is a great console for the price especially for playing multiplayer games. Though if you play mostly single-player games I would highly suggest getting the series x as it's way better for most games out there.

This system is amazing especially for the price. After getting my disc PS5 I sold my Xbox Series X to get this. For the Series S I know it's not the most powerful but I am not complaining alpng with my PS5!

It’s worth the money for all the entertainment it provides. Both boys fight over who gets to play first. My boys love the game pass you can purchase to have access to over 100 games.

I am very impressed with the series S. I was able to use the 1440p at 120hz playing on a monitor with free sync. I was impressed with the SSD load times playing multiple games after each other. I thought the 512GB wouldn’t be enough but I only play 2-3 games at a time so I had lots of room. The only game that takes a lot of space is COD (100+GB) other than that most games are only 50GB or less. So there was a lot of room. Now if you plan to have more games you can always buy the expansion SSD that’s made for both series X/S. It’s a little pricey at around $220 for 1TB. Also the 4K on the series X would be the only other difference on the graphics. Oh yeah this console is small like tiny compared to the series X and smaller than the Xbox one X/S. I say it’s a get value for $300.

An excellent console, fast and quality gaming. Only problem is the storage. Why Microsoft thought the discless version should have the least memory is beyond me. Another cash grab for when they release the expanded storage version later this year. (Maybe wait for that? Or just buy the Series X if you can afford that!) The idea of spending an extra 300 bucks on a sea gate internal storage drive is ridiculous in comparison to buying one Series X or even another series S for the same price. The console is fantastic, don’t get me wrong. If you’re only looking to play a few games (less than 400 gb if you’re including the space the base software requires) then it’s a great price compared to the other options. But if you’re playing X/S optimized games and plan on building a collection, maybe wait for something better.

I use this on a 50 inch 4k 60Hz television, and I upgraded from the original Xbox One. I also have an external SSD that I have a bunch of Xbox One games on. Visually, the higher framerate on the games is noticeable. I also really like the physical design of the system. Two of the main things I have liked so far are the very quick load times, and the quick resume feature. It makes it very difficult to think of going back to the original Xbox One. If I had a larger television with 120Hz refresh rate, I'd probably go for the Series X (though they are still hard to buy at retail). I'm happy with it, and I don't think you can go wrong for the price. The Series X or the standard PS 5 would also be great values at their retail price.
