Customers are saying

Customers commend the Xbox Series S for its affordability, compact size, and impressive performance, especially considering its price point. Many appreciate the ease of use and fast load times, along with the benefits of Xbox Game Pass. However, some users point out limitations in storage capacity and the lack of a disc drive as significant drawbacks. The console's resolution capabilities also receive mixed feedback.

The 4k graphics are exactly as great as they advertise!! I have been a PS user since the original, owned the 2 and the slim version, both the original and backwards compatible 3, original 4 and 4Pro. I absolutely got rid of everything PlayStation simply because of Sony Customer "Care" (They could caaare less about you). I bought the S for many reasons and have been impressed with everything. Expected pretty standard stuff, and was wrong on every occasion. Not personally a fan of white because if it isn't pristine, it's dirty, in my eyes. Ease of access is above expectation. It's absolutely silent even after hours of fast paced, intensive gameplay. No heat off the console at all. Setup and personal setting adjustments were far more simple than I had anticipated. 2FA is seamless. I even had a blast just setting up my friggin avatar!! The ONLY reason this did not get a perfect score is because..... 512gb isn't enough. Without the expansion card, you are really left with only keeping a couple games on the console. So pick your favorites to keep on it or you'll find yourself uninstalling games to have enough space to download and install the next game you want to play. I should have been more patient and waited to get the 2TB version of the console. If you're impatient like I was, get this with the expansion card :)

Lucked out finding this at the local BB; intent is ultimately to use this system as a placeholder until the Series X becomes more readily available due to its increased power, optical drive and increased storage. As it stands, this is a dandy little system, even smaller than my Xbox One S. Already had Gamepass Ultimate so I transferred a few titles onto the (tiny) 364-gb SSD and fired them up after installing the 4K texture packs that Xbox recommends - didn't increase the size nearly as bad as I'd feared. Titles like Outriders and POE2 loaded insanely fast, markedly improved from even the portable SSD I was using to launch them on the One S! The improved frame rates and textures were a vast improvement and I'll never go back! All of it really whets my appetite to see what the Xbox Series X is capable of with three times the processing power, but again, as a holdover this system is perfectly adequate. Careful swapping around of titles due to the limited storage will allow for optimal play conditions at all times - and if you're like me and have a substantial disc-based collection of title, you'll need the Series X to take advantage of them as well. But for what it does, this system is quite an improvement over even the One X and really shows what gaming will look like in the near future!

Console is good and I have not had any problems with it, DO NO DO USE THE CITIZEN'S ONE FINANCING OPTION. As far as I can tell so far it is just a run around making you call in each month to get a new code for Xbox Game Pass. You are better off to either buy the console by itself. Or just keep calling to get codes everyday until you have a years worth of codes.

I own both a Series X and a Series S. I keep my Series X in my living room where my 4k LG TV that can maximize all its features (True 4K, 120hz). The Series S is kept in my office room attached two one of my 32in Gaming monitors that maximizes at 1440p and over 165hz (The Series S specs are for 1440p and 120hz gaming) which is really what the Series S is built for. The Series S' speed compared to the Series X is about 90% as fast as its older sibling in body about half its size. It's really an engineering marvel to be able to put out the kind of power and features this thing pushes with no noise at all. I recomend investing in the 1tb expansion card and the Microsoft Xbox wireless headphones and you will be impressed.

This console may not be the most powerful, have the biggest storage, or run everything at 4k 120fps. What this console is, a surprisingly powerful entry level next generation console. I bought this to hold me over until I could find a series x, but what happened is I enjoyed it so much that while I still will get a series x I'm not in a hurry anymore. The series s is exactly what you think it is. The smaller weaker little brother to the series x. What you don't expect is a console that performs at this level, this smooth, and a few minutes in you forget it is a series s. I spent a few hours last night playing gears 5 at 120fps on series s. Some games if you choose visual mode even run at 4k. Pleasantly surprised and have no regrets.

The Microsoft Xbox Series S is a fantastic gaming system upgrade that continues the legacy of excellence established more than two decades ago with the first Xbox. The console is sized and shaped to fit unobtrusively within an average user's entertainment ecosystem, and the controllers are ergonomic and easy to use.

Originally i had a playstation 4 pro, and when it kicked the bucket i decided to switch to xbox. I wanted the series x however it was sold out and found this. Overall im super impressed with it. The design, the way it runs. The storage space isn't a issue giving certain games arent big downloads. You can always purchase extra storage if needed. You also cant beat the price for a next gen console. Overall there is no difference between the x and series s. I did alot of reaearch talked to a few friends and there is only a few differences not really a game changer. Im impressed how far xbox/microsoft came. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a next gen console.

I'm not a Microsoft fan AT ALL.. My 360 was so unreliable had to send it in for repairs 8 times. So was very reluctant, but this has been a good experience, even with the tiny HD it's got more than enough room for a wealth of games. OS isn't as nice as a PS5 but it's doable, controllers suck because of needing batteries, but are comfortable. I feel like the visuals on the playstation are brighter more defned, xbox seems darker and bluish regardless of the TV settings -- not entirely sure. Perfect game system for a tween/teen and not a $500 investment. A good buy, reliability wise we shall see.

Got this as a secondary console to my Series X so that I could play my games and stream my movies on another tv in the house. I did not expect to love this system so much. It is very small and sleek so it fits well in any entertainment system. Also Xbox’s instant cloud saves makes going back in forth between systems. Also performance wise it is very sleek and fast. And while Series X is a higher powered unit this definitely holds its own. The biggest drawback is the internal storage, but that is something you can upgrade when you’re ready.

This Xbox Series S is digital only. I returned this as my grandsons wanted the Xbox X series so they could use the Xbox one game discs they already have. With the Series S you have to buy your games digitally or pay $14.99 monthly or quarterly for $44.99 to get Xbox game pass which gives you access to all of the Xbox games. It gives you immediate access to any newly published games but at ongoing cost.

Good purchase for the not-so-serious gamer

Full disclosure: I'm not a serious gamer. I picked this up on a whim (pandemic boredom). I also bought the Microsoft Game Pass. Set-up was pretty easy out the box. Only a few hiccups separating my work Microsoft account from my personal account. Took about an hour for all the updates to complete. Game pass has a nice selection of games. I like being able to play cloud based games. If you're a serious gamer, the storage will probably be an issue. Downloading a graphics heavy game like Forza takes a good chunk of the available memory. I have 5 or 6 games in my library now and I'm already 93% full. I recommend getting a charger/recharging station for the controllers. Replacing batteries gets old pretty fast. My only real gripe is that it was surprisingly difficult to set up our second controller so that my wife and I could play against each other. If you want to play against someone halfway across the world, no problem. Playing against someone sitting with you on your couch, on the other hand, is a lot more difficult. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Remember those old Xbox commercials from shortly after the original console launched in 2001? Well, the Xbox Series S reaffirms that there really is no power greater than X. Sure, you're not getting an optical drive here, but that doesn't mean that this system isn't anything short of amazing. I've played games on here that I also have on PC and I kid you not, I can't tell the difference between the two versions. If PC gaming isn't your bag or if space is at a premium (or both), then definitely look into getting this beautiful system!
