Affordable, cylindrical ice. I happened to score this while it was on sale, and it's awesome! If you're an apartment dweller or don't have an ice maker hookup for your refrigerator, this definitely belongs on your countertop so you can have ice any time without the mess of ice cube trays. Tip: Get a small command hook and drill a hole in the included scoop, then hang the scoop on the side of the machine so you always have the scoop close at hand.

Great for last minute party. I thought the ice would have been much bigger. However, it produced a lot of ice and I was able to put the ice in zip lock bags. The ice maker is easy-to-use and it shuts off automatically. I thought it would be used for events only. I have used it several times after my event and it's a part of my daily routine. I purchased it online and it was ready within the time frame I was told. I am truly happy with the ice maker.

Great little ice maker, that quickly makes 2 sizes of little tiny ice cubes! Transfer ice cubes to your freezer to keep from melting, this ice maker does not keep cubes frozen. This unit is not totally silent, but is not very loud either, noise level is similar to the ice maker in your freezer. The unit is not very large and can easily sit out on a kitchen counter. The ice maker could be portable as long as there is electricity and water. Great little ice maker for the money.

Works great, compact and quiet. Simple to operate, just plug in, add water and 6 minutes later the first batch comes out.

Excellent machine. It runs quietly. It has 2 different size setting but I don’t notice a difference in the size of the ice when switched. It also works fast. You get ice within 6-8 minutes

We lost our ice maker in the refrigerator about 3 years ago. I missed having ice and finally decided to buy a countertop unit. I read the reviews and in my 6 weeks of ownership my experience is about the same. The unit makes ice quite rapidly and it is true that it will not keep ice, only make it. It is reasonably quiet and easy to store. So far I am glad I bought it and it is serving us well.

I’ve been wanting an ice maker for so long!! I purchased online & did curbside pick-up. The service was excellent! No contact at all! I brought it home unboxed it and set it up! Very easy btw! Cleaned out the necessary trays and maker itself. Added filtered water to clean the water system. Threw out the first bucket of ice then started with a fresh set after! Once you add water after a few minutes you’ll have ice in the bucket! I love the little ring ice! It’s so cute! I will definitely purchase again!

For the money, the Insignia 26-Lb. Portable Ice Maker with Auto Shut-Off makes quite a lot of ice in a short period of time. Our Samsung refrigerator's ice maker is a known bad piece of - uhm - engineering, and plastic ice trays are a pain. We could have spent a lot more for a few extra features, but there is not a problem with making ice as long as you stay attentive. The unit is not a freezer, and when a round of 9 ice cubes dump, they fall into a basket where they will melt if left too long. The water reservoir is sufficient for several rounds of ice. The ice is shaped liked tiny Asian teacups. One day of running (and emptying after 4-5 rounds) will fill our large ice container in the freezer. Have an ice pick handy, because the melting ice refreezes once stored away in the freezer forming large lumps of tumbled tiny teacups. The bottom drain plug is a good feature. Auto shut-off for full ice basket or low water level are also good features.

This is the most honest review I can make. I’ve now had this unit for six months and I didn’t realize how much ice my family consumed. Ideally it’s enough ice for three large glasses at a time. It makes ice very quickly every eight minutes. The biggest problem and the reason why I have to give it four stars – Because I can’t give a 4 1/2- is that the ice slides at an angle into the holding tray. I’m not sure that there’s an engineering solution here due to the water tank being underneath the ice tray. Because the ice slides at an angle you only get enough for two glasses of ice unless you systematically shuffle the ice around two or three times a day with your scooper. The laser sensor is often blocked by the ice sliding into that tray. If you have a family of 4 to 6 people that consume a large amount of ice….I would probably get a larger unit that has a larger ice hopper compartment. I might actually go and get a larger unit myself and my kids will probably love me if I hand them this unit. The ice -in the large form -is the size of a thimble. Easy to suck on won’t damage your teeth and is a little soft. The unit is not refrigerated so the ice continually melts inside the tray back into the water tank. For the $89 -$100 range this piece of equipment is actually well done. If your ice maker in your refrigerator/freezer breaks and you don’t wanna go all out fixing it and you just want to move ice from this ice maker into the hopper of your freezer… This unit makes ice has a removable ice basket where you can transport that ice over to your freezer. Great product and we are truly enjoying our ice maker

Recieved a defective one that roared loudly while making ice (white model), and Best Buy’s customer service worked wonders in making sure we were taken care of! We went in for an exchange, but the white model was completely sold out and out of stock in-store and online, so they exchanged it for the more expensive (silver) model without hesitation for us! We were pleased to just have a working machine, but in awe by their willingness to make sure we did not leave the store without one. Thank you, Best Buy! You guys are awesome! The machine works perfectly with a peaceful hum to let you know it is creating the perfect cubes you desire, small or large! The machine also knows when to stop, wether by a full ice trey or a low water level, while also letting you know. The machine is awesome! The machine and BB’s customer service get the job done!

This ice maker machine is exactly what I wanted for making ice for cocktails. It's easy to use and makes both small and medium ice cubes. Just be careful to make sure that you take off all of the tape before using. I missed two pieces holding the part (sweeping grate) that pushes the ice into the basket and realized when it made a not so happy noise. Luckily it didn't break and it was good to go once I removed the tape. Definitely recommend!
