i7+ Rooma 2021

We bought this because we have concrete floors, which it does a great job of cleaning, besides pet waste detection! We bought this specifically because it said it would detect and avoid pet mess. We have a 17 year old dog who is mostly blind and deaf, and some time just can't make it outside to go. The Roomba would just run right over it. That isn't what killed our machines, however. Both of our machines had an error where it would say the bags are full even when they aren't. If the bag is full, then it simply won't run. It would try to empty, take off for 2 feet, then return home. The second one Best Buy sent to their repair center and it wasn't fixable, so we just elected for a store credit and went back to a regular cordless. Total Tech to the rescue!

Last Roomba product ever for this household

Initially the first unit had a bad sensor, and no matter where it was placed, it stoped because of the sensor, for fall prevention. This unit was exchanged. Once it was setup, it infrequently dropped off of the Wi-Fi, and when we called Roomba for support, they wanted to reconfigure my whole WiFi network to their spec (which I did not do). They walked us through the factory reset, and it started working again. Then about 6 months later, it had an error code, that indicated that the battery was not charging. (At this point it was less than one year old). The corrective action was to order a new battery from Roomba, but the price was prohibitive. (And in my wife’s mind, it was strike 3, and she now wants nothing to do with any other Roomba products). It is disappointing that it came to this, but I completely respect and honor her feelings on this.

DON'T DO IT!

Ran & performed great until May 2024, and oh what a complete mess this has become. Multiple calls to their tech support in May 2024 - ended up replacing battery. Yep just over a year of use & they had me spend the money for a battery. Once replaced seemed a bit better until August 2024. Now clearly out of warranty, calls to tech support & navagation is totally screwed up....again. Tech support tells me, this time, that the wheels are worn, to order new from them & replace them to correct navigation issues. Ordered & replaced wheels with NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL. Told tech support I'm no longer their technician & no more use of my bank account to support them. Subsequently on call with tech support, the rep told me that there are significant known navigation issues with Roomba vacuum robots! Not sure they were supposed to tell me that, but they did. Eventually they agree to send me an allegedly new replacement. New one shows up 2 days ago, wrong dust bin on it so cleaned & used dust bin from original robot. THIS ROOMBA J7+ HAS MORE ISSUES THAN THE ORIGINAL AND I CANNOT VERIFY IF IT'S NEW OR RECONDITIONED. ASKING ROOMBA FOR MY $837 BACK. TIME WILL TELL I GUESS. HEADED TO GO GET A NEW SHARK. PREVIOUSLY HAD ONE & IT WAS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS ROOMBA.

Problem Solved

Our carpet is short pile nylon in a dark gray color. I couldn't keep up with the maintenance it took to keep our home looking "ready for company". This machine was a game changer. I would recommend this to anyone with pets.

Awesome Robot Vacuum

It works perfectly after a few mapping runs and I have no issues with it whatsoever. It’s been a great machine and really does well with avoidance.

Great product but, replacement items add up

It’s not friendly to shag or high pile carpet. I have noticed I go though a lot of replacement items but, other than that it’s effective, gets the floors and carpets cleaned as good as I would do them.

Overall happy with minor disappointments

It is our first and I have to say that I am very happy with it. We are not the best at vacuuming our house manually and now that we have the J7+, our floors have never stayed so clean. We have a one level 2,500 square foot house all tile , 2 children and a dog. I will admit that I am slightly disappointed that it will not vacuum in a total dark house, (it fails and will not vacuum or it gets stuck if it is too darck) so we need to leave some lights on dimm on the nights that we have a scheduled cleaning. But we are dealing with it. It works Awesome during the day and we often just schedule a full cleaning when we are not home. It only takes about 2.5 hours to do out entire house. Sometimes 3 to 4 hours. Depending on how we left the chairs or kids toys It is a lot quieter than I had expected while vacuuming. When it empties in the base station it is pretty loud though. But that lasts only a few seconds. I will say that it does not vacuum totally perfectly in one cleaning if the floor is really dirty, but because we have a cleaning scheduled 3 times a week. It definitely keeps the house clean. Overall, we are very happy with it and it keeps our floors clean with 3 vacuumings per week. Oh, and our dog leaves it alone also.

Good if do not have to deal with pet hair

Have to manually dump it instead of the hair being sucked into the bin. Would be best if did not have to manually dump it. Needs tweaking.

Generally quiet during operation. Easy to schedule time and frequency of operation. Honestly, I'm surprised at the number of people that mention how loud the empty to bin process is...........since it takes about 15 seconds to empty. I would definately purchase again and recommend it to anyone considering purchase. I have a shorthair dog and it handles shedding very well. As noted elsewhere in other ratings, don't expect "Robby" to get completely into corners but it does clean LVP flooring and short pile carpeting/rugs very well.
