It worked for two days

I tried to start with a "Mapping Run" (formerly known as a "Training Run" but the app gave no such option. When I could not find any information online about this, I called customer support. After about a 30 minute wait I finally got to talk to a person. Despite her constant reassurances that she would resolve the problem, we got nowhere. She sounded as if she had never seen a Roomba and was showing me answers to several questions. Unfortunately, none of them were my question. On Saturday, I let it make a cleaning run to build a map. After that, the option became available to do a Mapping Run. I did two Mapping Runs back-to-back. It did a very nice job of mapping my house with surprising accuracy. I used the robot on Saturday and Sunday without issue. It seems to clean well and performed well. But now it's Monday. I sent the robot to clean a room, and everything went as expected. After a recharge, I sent it to clean another room, and it might have done it, but I can't be sure because as of the second run today it can no longer show the clean map. It just says Map Unavailable. I tried rebooting. I tried power cycling. I deleted and reinstalled the app. No joy. I called customer service. "Your estimated wait time is more than 30 minutes". I hung up. When this robot worked, it was wonderful. But seriously, for $850 I am pretty sure you can hire a local company to vacuum your floor for more than the 2 days I got from this thing. Support is pretty much non-existent. You get an overseas call center with someone looking up answers, the same as you probably already did. There are not many answers out there yet for the j7 because it's new. I'd suggest buying something else until the online community has had time to work out the bugs and solutions, because calling iRobot will get you nowhere.

Do not waste your money

It only has one "sweeper" arm on the bottom and it mostly just flings debris around the floor. We originally go the J5 but I wanted a mopping option so we got this. It doesn't mop. It has a pad that gets wet on the bottom. Thats it...and when it is on it won't empty because the mop is blocking the hole that it empties through. I have a Shark that I paid a LOT less for that I got years ago that works a ton better than this one.

j7 best for shag/heavy carpet.

This one worked the best. note - if you need a robot vacuum that does shag or heavy thick carpet. DO NOT get the i9. although it worked great with hardwood floors etc. and normal carpet. it got stuck a lot when it came to the shag.

The issue with multi-level homes makes this a niche product. Cleans what it can get to very well but tight corners and under cabinet lips is the main shortcoming

Disposable

If you read carefully, you will notice that all of the good reviews are from customers that have had their vacuum/mop for less than a year, that is about all the time you will enjoy the convenience of this disposable crap. It is very convenient to have a working robot vacuum/mop, it’s like flying in first class, once you’ve done it, it’s very difficult to not have it again, I’m just saying, spend some time researching the best products, almost none of them will recommend this unit, and once your 1 year warranty is over, you are out of luck - They will offer you $100 credit towards another piece of crap. So far, my Roborock is far superior!

Not worth the price

It bumps into everything to the point it actually moves my sonos subs. I ended up with the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and couldn’t be happier.
