Love this MacBook. Serious upgrade from the 2015 MacBook Air.

1st MacBook so I’m trying to get use to it and being part of the Apple family.

For context I have a mid-2013 MacBook Pro that is still going strong other than a battery that doesn't hold much juice after 10 years of service. We bought my wife this laptop in November 2022 based on our positive past experiences with Apple products vs the various Windows machines (I use Windows for work). After about several months my wife (non-techie) was reporting to me that the screen would go black for no reason, and the only way to revive it was a hard reboot, losing all work, etc. It's now happening more often, and the laptop is out of warranty. Based on research on the internet this is a hardware issue (screen and/or lid angle sensor) that now we will probably have to pay out of pocket to deal with. In addition, the bezel below the screen, dead center, has a hairline crack in it. It's not even a stress point near the hinges. My gut feeling is that Apple has taken thin and light too far. This laptop compared to my 2011 MacBook Air just feels flimsier, and prone to wear and breakage. I can't see it having the longevity of other Apple products we've owned in the past. If you can afford it, splurge and get a Pro, though I can't vouch for them since my 10 year old one keeps on chugging along for me basic needs. At the very least splurge and get AppleCare.

It's not great. The glitches in the trackpad are beyond annoying and time wasters. I have not found a fix for it highlighting everything when you move the cursor across the screen. Occasionally this accidental highlighting will delete everything highlighted, but there is no way to get from one side of the screen to the other without highlighting, so you have to be very intentional to un-highlight before the next keystroke. Very hard for me to be efficient this way. I've tried every possible update and setting in the trackpad system settings, but there's nothing. It seems like a common issue in the chats for this model/year.

The screen is great , the trackpad and keyboard feel like great quality , no complaints :)

I have been using MB for more than 10 years. This new one with M2 prrocessor performs well. I did notice that with 8 RAM, sometimes it’s a but delayed when loading multiple websites but it is not too bad. If i were to choose again, i would’ve chose 16 RAM.
