Unable to get any channels

However, I am not able to pick up any channels (even weak ones) on this. The instructions were useless after how to connect the cables - i.e., no information on actually how to scan/pick up channels. I tried every option on my remote and still nothing. I confirmed with the associate before buying that this should work on a normal (i.e., not an HD or internet tv), but it does not work on my regular Samsung tv.

I have a 35 mi antenna that gets 40 channels. Disappointed and not sure if the problem is the antenna or the “open box for 34.99”
