Passive antenna works better for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought the Best Buy Essentials passive antenna (BE-ANT200HA). That one picked up a lot of channels well, but some were hit or miss. PBS in particular was a weak, choppy, often dead signal. I figured that an amplified antenna would provide a stronger signal and help glitchy channels come through more clearly. That was not the case. The passive antenna actually picked up more channels in the exact same location and position as this active antenna. The only way this purchase did help was that I realized rotating the passive antenna on a stand allowed me to pull a stronger signal (it didn’t come with its own stand, so I hadn’t tried that). Rotating these antennas seems to be a lot more helpful in my location than moving them around on a flat wall.

In the Sacramento area I have to say that most of the main local channels are putting out a "good" signal strength except for the ABC 13, they turn up the power for Monday Night Football when they air it and then low signal power all the rest of the week.
