Great on the go
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device, ram should’ve been higher, will run current heavy titles at 40 fps with some drops, But older games and classic games run at very high fps, Would buy again. complains are battery life, it heats up, and the joysticks aren’t the best, but other than that it’s all wonderful.

Decent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's really good for the fact it's a handheld gaming computer. 4 stars for the proprietary egpu connection other than that I love the way you can customize settings to suit what game your playing

Amazing performance docked and undocked
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a steam deck and i can easily say that the performance of the ally is amazing, while the battery life isnt as good as the steam deck, i still find myself taking my ally over my steam deck when going on a lengthy trip, and if you have the ally pluged in or docked the performance is far greater than i expected initially especially in 1080p, definitely a good buy.

best handheld gaming device for the money
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.for $50 more than the top spec steam deck, you're getting so much hardware for your money. a much better screen, higher resolution, higher refresh rate, double the CPU cores, more and newer GPU cores - all this amounts to about 50% more performance when compared to the steam deck. @720p, this thing will get 65-70fps compared to steam deck's 40fps in red dead redemption 2, and 45fps @1080p. if own a steam deck and always wanted more power, this thing is for you!

Fun device but wait for the 2nd revision
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During the past 10 days, I had the chance to test this device, which turned out to be excellent for portable gaming. However, considering the ongoing problems with its SD slot and the unsatisfactory battery life, I would recommend waiting for the next revision before making a purchase.

ROGZ1E
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very solid gaming device. I use it for all my retro games and modern pc. Mostly 720p with medium settings on the moat demanding, and runs everything up to ps3 great. Screen quality is very good with the 120hz 1080p.

Loving the Ally despite having small problems
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Steam Deck and I barely touched Steam Deck once i got my ROG Ally. With that said my SD card Slot did stop working, and it seems to be caused by too much heat close to the SD card slot on Ally. If you plan on upgrading SSD inside the Rog this will not be much of a problem.

Gave it shot
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having purchased both the rog ally and legion go and weeks of testing i gave the latter the shot. Dont get me wrong the rog ally is solid and speedy but not as smooth inbetween gaming and desktop use. also keep in mind it does have its issues such as the sd card possibly failing i didnt want to take that chance

Great product.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Workhorse of a PC. It’s basically a laptop in a handheld form. Windows could be set up a little friendlier to select what you need when in hand held mode vs docked. Just wish it had more RAM and battery life. The left stick was a little loose and I’ve already upgraded the SSD to a 1tb unit. A little awkward in the hand, could be more ergonomic hence my purchase of a grin to fit better in the hand and not cause cramping.

Battery life
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great as promised only issue is battery life it doesn't last very long you pretty much have about 45 min to an hour before you have to charge it but performance wise it works great. Also maybe storage but you could always just add more.

Absolutely amazing handheld!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box it can be a little troublesome to get set up but this is an absolutely amazing machine. The only drawback is the limited battery life. Playing on the go, you might want to be close to a power outlet. You can also play around with certain settings to get longer battery life. From playing current AAA games to the classics this thing does it all!

Solid handheld, worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly a pretty solid little gaming handheld. There are issues that ive seen other people have but personally i havent. I also havent dropped mine. I recommend one if you want something on the go, something you can put on a dock in a different room, or if you wanna spend more time around family without being d a desk.

Great unit. Very powerfull
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both the steam deck and the ROG Ally and what’s great about the ROG is that runs windows and basically you are able to run any game from any PC game service including gamepass, also the touch screen is more responsive than the one on the steam deck. Armory crate is pretty decent but it could be a little more responsive. Also the 15 watts performace is better on the deck but the 25 and 30 watts performaces y amazing, it will devour your battery

Zero to PC Gamer instantly
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not a Windows guy—you can call me an Apple fanboy if you want, but frankly i have never had any reason to own a PC. It’s a simple fact, however, that Macs are not at all adept at serious gaming. And there has never been anything I’d want to play badly enough to spend over $1,000 on for a bloated hot-air genersting glowing box. So the ASUS ROG Ally is aimed directly at me. I’m a console gamer who wants to play PC titles with decent if not very good performance that gives me the option to connect to a larger screen and whatever peripheral i need. I want something thst takes up zero desktop or floor space because its more likely to be in my backpack than sitting in my apartment. And i want it to just work—i get that its a computer and not handhelfd cartridge-loading mobile gaming device, so my expectations are less than a Steam Deck or a Switch, but i also have no patience for optimizing and tweaking settings and purchasing parts as more experienced gamers go on about with their gaming rigs. Quite simply, the Ally let me have a fairly powerful Windows PC in a nice handheld gaming case, and i have to use my brain to get games on it and play. Easily done. It has made me instantly able to play a galaxy of PC games id never even considered before simply because the price of entry—in dollars and in hassle—was too steep. Now, for about the price of a nice console gaming setup, i can reliably play games sithout taking out a loan or having a resource hog live rent free in my home. If you’re a confident tech person (e.g. know how to install things in Windows) who just couldnt imagine building a dedicated PC for the games you play for fun and not for the sake of testing the limits of your hardware, this may well be the entry point for you.

Great portable gaming computer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome little computer that you can take with you anywhere. The APU works great, I've played Elden Ring (works on >25W profile), City Skylines, Fallout 4, and Forza Horizon 5, Frostpunk, and Aven. All work great. Screen is wonderful, though I wouldn't recommend you play strategy or city building games on it (use the USB C connector to display it on a bigger screen and use a mouse/keyboard). All the buttons and joysticks work great as expected.

ROG Ally is a great handheld gaming PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ROG Ally runs my PC games smoothly without any issues. The battery life is short, but I knew that before I bought it. I solved that problem by purchasing a 50000 mAh battery pack. I also knew about the heat issue with the SD card slot, I don’t need to use it so that is not a problem for me. If I want extra space I will upgrade the SSD, instead of using SD cards.
