Good try Asus
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The idea is really cool was hoping for alot sense it had AMD iGPU. Was a little disappointed. When ever I tried to use it it froze because of windows and memory issue i’m guessing. And the one demo I wanted to play in it kept crashing FF11 benchmark (that can run on a potato) and every time i ran it on high kept getting directX 3d crash. Installed direct X make it work on low setting not high. I think it needs a switch to make it use the controller as just a controller when your gaming as well. Still hoping for my handheld PC. I feel like its the netpicky market your going to sell this too and it’s just not there yet.

Amazing little machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im a Steam Deck fan-boy that LOVES the concept of handheld gaming. After having the Deck for over a year I have to say, the ROG Ally is better in almost EVERY way. While I actually prefer the ergonomics of the Deck, the Ally blows it away with performance, compatibility, and style. WHY AREN'T MORE REVIEWS MENTIONING THE SPEAKERS?? The Ally has 10x better sound! I'm loving the Ally and couldn't recommend it more.

Amazing concept... still not ready.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on launch day and am super impressed with the screen, interface and performance however am having tons of issues running updates (whether they fail or pass, they pass installing and the updater doesnt realize it), to games randomly crashing or not installing. This really needs more time to be ready and should have been delayed instead of pushing for the initial release date. I will be returning mine this evening and going back to my Steam Deck for now. I'll reevaluate in a few months whether or not to upgrade then. For $700, this thing should be performing near flawless and it is not.

We certainly value your feedback on this matter, and I will be letting the related department know about the issues you are experiencing for continuous improvements to the product line. After installing your updates, did you reset your system? If so do the updates still show after the restart? When the crash occurred were there any error messages popping up? In some cases, you may need to adjust your graphical settings. If you’re still experiencing issues, feel free to contact me if you have any technical or general questions. Best on the go handheld console- otherwise go PC!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product for gamers on the go! The setup was, as expected- for a windows 11 based handheld. Beyond setup and the constant need to be on charge- it’s honestly a fun little hot pocket. If you’re fluent with win11 and Armoury Crate- you’ll be fine. No issues with either of the two we’ve purchased this year!

impressive
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really impressive for a handheld windows based gaming PC. Runs Diablo 4 and Destiny 2 better than the steamdeck, but you really need to have a battery pack permanently attached. If you get the 65w wall adapter you can output to a monitor or tv and play with controller on a larger screen seamlessly at 1080p / 60 hz or better

Great handheld gaming device
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super useful device for playing indie games and helping clear out your backlog of older AAA games. If you're more technically inclined the ability to stream to it from your main gaming PC is great.

A great experience.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I see a bunch of people knocking this device and always comparing it to the Steam deck. I owned a Deck and got tired of always searching the Net to figure what script I needed to get to work with my LG. To get it to recognize docks NVME drive. The straw that broke the camels back was novel voice over wouldn’t work and I was told to contact the game maker when it work on my PC and Mac. Steam deck is cool but a lot of Hupe. I dumped mine and got the ROG Ally. I’m so happy I’m not having to go to desktop enter in text to get functions to work. When did I become an employee of Steam? The Ally works really good for. Instead of having to tinker to get stuff to work I can actually go play. And because of the Windows OS I haven’t had a game not play. I don’t have to typ in scripts to get Xbox cloud to work. I just long into Battlenet x loud etc and it works. Yes the battery drains fast if you have the performance setting cranked up. To me the ROG Ally is a better experience than the Steam deck. I came to play games not work on a handheld. Put in the first day to do updates and downloads then after that just play. I feel the display quality is awesome. I’m just really happy with this unit so far. For me it is way less frustrating than the Steam Deck. They are two different handhelds with different strengths and weaknesses. But for me the ROG Ally was more fun and enjoyable to use. The only thing I don’t like is cost. And lastly Best Buy shipped this thing mad fast. I’m starting to really enjoy Best Buy again

Does great but has minor flaws.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a fantastic handheld for what it does. Always wanted something like this to come out to play my games AAA games on the go and stream my Xbox games. It has had some flaws though. Adrenaline software seemed to interfere with many games that may use battleeye anti cheat. This version of the ALLY that I received also burned up a few SD cards. New revisions of the ALLY seem to have improved the situation and ASUS is relatively quick with repairs. Storage is also lacking. Just a few big games will take up majority of your space. Overall I’m happy with it regardless of the imperfections. Can’t wait for a refresh.

LOVE this handheld system
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn between purchasing this ,the STEAM DECK. Or a PS5. There are games on PS that I cant play on XBOX so I figured with tne ROG I could hook it up to TV and play and take on the go.I glad I purchased the Asus ROG. The battery life is not the best. Also set some time aside for inital setup as there ate quite a few UPDATES. After that it was smooth sailing . BTW the graphics on this look amazing

Great handheld
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once you get it all updated and everything dialed in it is a good unit but I spent allot of time getting games to work. Luckily google was helpful on what needed to be changed for game settings in order for the game to even open. But once it worked it is an awesome handheld.

Amazing portable gaming
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While it is practically a mini pc. I enjoy that I can play my games from Xbox, Steam, EA, & Epic games that I play on my laptop. It does get hot when performance is set at turbo and will use the battery quickly. I usually use Silent mode or 15w performance to keep battery a little longer. I also upgraded to 1tb nvme to add more games hit also have a 1TB micro for additiononal storage.

Good machine with terrible battery life
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the way this thing looks, feels, and plays. It runs games flawlessly and using windows is very intuitive and its nice to be able to download games on xbox gamepass. HOWEVER… the battery life is abysmal. Youre looking at 1-2 hours of play time, even when playing games rhat arent graphically demanding and when you have all the internal GPU and CPU settings turned down all the way. It really puts a damper on the whole experience and makes me not want to bother to use it. Last thijg ill say is that if you get a dock and want to use this like a Switch, it is very clunky and reminds me of the Wii U days with how much youll be using the Ally to change settings or switch games.

I was really excited for this product but...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's got nice hardware and a nice screen as well as a decent pair of speakers. However, the software side of things is what destroys the device. It uses Windows natively which is nice in terms of universal access to software and programs, but the downfall is that it's extremely difficult to navigate using this device. It's also very hard to do basic things like launch a game due to the way everything is integrated. It feels like software is tacked on to this product rather than native like the steam deck. Unfortunately I think that this isn't THE handheld to get and it's going to take another year or two to get something that's just right. I already sold my Steam deck but I don't think that device is up to snuff in the hardware but is way better in the interface. Maybe Steam and ASUS can work together to release a best of both worlds device, but in the meantime I'm going back to my laptop.

Posted .Dear Tyler,
Thank you for your feedback on the Rog Ally, we truly appreciate you taking the time out to let us know. Due to the nature of PC gaming, not all games will work right from the start you may need to adjust your controls in-game, to properly work. If you're using Steam as you're preferred platform, I would recommend using Big Picture mode, this mode will allow you to easily navigate around your Steam library. If you need any assistance, feel free to contact me at customerloyalty@asus.com, and I will help you to the best of my abilities. I am here to assist our customers with our products and dedicated to bringing a resolution to all issues that they may come across. Please copy a link to this post as a reference.

Solid Handheld PC
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A solid handheld device. Performance is pretty high and can play a lot of the high quality games with good frames. Only lacking is the battery. Only trade off you are making is battery for performance, so you are getting what you pay for.

Best Portable PC/Gaming Console out right now.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, one of the best purchases I've made. While it's marketed as a 'Gaming Handled', it's truly a compact ASUS ROG computer, loaded with Windows 11 and full desktop functionality. It's great for gaming, but it really is a PC that has a controller as it's housing. It runs games like BO6, Rivals and Fortnite seamlessly, while bigger more intensive games struggle sometimes if you're playing through Cloud. If you download them however, it runs just like a PS5 or Xbox. Would definitely recommend the purchase, grab an adapter and a monitor and have some fun.

Would recommend again, great product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the device, even moreso because I got it on sale with an extra $100 off because it was open box. It works just fine, and had no cosmetic damage. The device itself is a gamechanger, allowing me to play my entire game library wherever I want. Battery life isn't great, but I knew that going into the purchase.

Great handheld after setup
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a beast of a gaming experience. Upon ordering I was a bit skeptical due to some of the reviews stating bad BIOS updates, fried SD card issues and joystick dead zone issues but I have not had any of the issues stated. Given I opted out of using an SD card and instead updated the SSD to a 2TB. The initial windows set up was a bit of a pain but once you get through that it works like a dream.

Really great portibal computer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this device and the portability, its not as heavy as i thought it would be, but still feels very sturdy. I bought a silicone case for it and I actually prefer it without the case. Ive used it to play Diablo 4, Palworld, and Baldurs Gate 3 so far - all have run pretty great. So far I’m satisfied with this purchase
