Great Portable PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great handheld device, was deciding between this and the steam deck. Glad I went with the Ally, I prefer the versatility versus being confined to steam games only. With the ally, you're able to use different launchers such as xbox games, EA, and ubisoft to name a few. Of course, since it does run Windows 11 the Ally does support Steam as well. Also appreciate being able to add memory with a micro SD card since the Ally only comes with 500GB and games nowadays can take up more than 50GB per install. Only issue is battery life but that's expected due to the power draw of trying to run the latest games. If you're looking to play more than an hour on battery then this may not be the right fit. I don't mind it since I'm usually near an outlet but I could see how it can be annoying since it defeats the purpose of it being portable.

Amazing piece of software
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a steam deck and want the ally, it would be like upgrading from a gtx 1660 to an rtx 3050 ti. The jump in fps is mind boggling. Beamng runs monster trucks at around a solid 50 fps on any map, bo3 gets around 70/80 on everything maxed, modern warfare 2019 gets 60 fps on high settings and spider man remastered gets 30/40 fps on high settings and because it’s amd, the graphics chip hasn’t even reached its full potential and is nowhere near reaching its full potential as the device is so new. After lots of updates, it will be able to run pretty much anything you throw at it. Very good device and have been absolutely loving it so far.

Great pc handheld
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the fact that I can play almost all my PC games on this handheld console. The graphics are nice looking, sound is great. I already have a MSI gaming laptop which the games look and play great on. But the difference between this is that I can play my PC games on the go. There are some tweaks you have to do with settings to play the games. But that’s not too hard. Since this has windows 11, there will always be updates you have to install like a regular PC. Once its up and running, the games play great. I think this item is overpriced at $699.99. I had to return it since it did not make any sense to keep it since I have a killer gaming laptop. But if the price would be at $599.99 then I would buy it. If you don’t have a gaming PC, then you should definitely buy it.

Worth the price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great piece of tech. Have been using this to play some newer games i've missed since getting rid of my PC. Was able to run most modern games at 60 fps with some quick adjustment to the settings. Battery life leaves a lot to be desired but thats to be expected for what this handheld is doing.

A good alternative to the Steam Deck
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I am really enjoying my Asus Rog Ally extreme but it's not perfect. Pros : - Runs games I play such as Fortnite because it includes Windows 11. - Driver support is very good out of the box because it includes Windows 11. - If you get the optional charger/dock, the Ally doubles as a portable PC. Cons : - The Ally uses Windows tablet/touch mode which can range from annoying to infuriating. In some cases you need an external keyboard to set things up due to the virtual keyboard. - Battery life is bad. Don't expect to get more than an hour and a half of playing something like Fornite with it on just the battery.

Great Experience! Awesome Handheld!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been really impressed with this handheld. I've thrown a lot at it and barely had any issues. Once you tweak the settings a bit, it'll run anything like a beast. I tend to keep it plugged in since I'm not a huge traveller, so it substitutes my gaming PC when I'm too lazy to get my butt out of bed. Asus' support seems to be neverending. They seem passionate about pushing this product and I'm glad to see a company supporting something so heavily. I immediately upgraded my SSD because 512gb is hardly enough, i do wish they would've went the same route as Valve or Lenovo with offering higher memory options, but the process of upgrading is so easy it kind of doesn't matter. (Unless you're a real stickler about it.) I was skeptical at first, being my first handheld and all. But I don't regret this purchase at all. Great job Asus!

Not really worth the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The specs of this thing made it sound really appealing but in practice it's not that great. I have to run games on low graphics settings and even then it barely reaches 60fps. It also gets hot if you play while charging even if you reduce the power output. I've measured up to 95°C. It's also not comfortable to hold. The grips are way too thin. I'm sure that part is better for the new xbox version that has extended grips. Overall I think this would be a decent $300 machine. I was lucky and got it on sale for $450 comspred to the normal $700 price, so I didn't overpay by too much but i still feel like it was too much for what it is

Beast, but ultimately upgraded
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did love this, especially for the price I paid for it. But ultimately I returned it. One morning I looked down and had a giant battery pack, USB splitter, extra external storage and I thought to myself...it makes more sense to return this for the X. But it still is a beast for the price!

Where's the ROG XG Mobile suggestions
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to a steam deck, it is noticeably smaller and lighter which minimizes fatigue to the wrists. The faster refresh rate on the small screen seems to ease the strain of focusing your eyes on fast moving scenes. I was not offered to purchase an ROG XG Mobile eGPU Dock which bothered me somewhat at the time as the prices for them on ASUS website was not the same as in store. It can be a very vital component in the productive use of this handheld and essentially unlocks the potential of the device as both a powerful 8 core 16 thread DDR5 computational machine and a portable home entertainment device which can fully utilize the high refresh rates of modern televisions. My ROG Ally will completely replace my entire home desktop and have a smaller footprint as well as use less electricity overtime with just the addition of an ASUS - ROG XG Mobile eGPU Dock - AMD Radeon RX 6850 XT in particular which has the HDMI 2.1 so that i would be able to run an LG C2 at 120Hz, and also a QHD monitor via display port

Travelling Gamers rejoice!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent for gamers on the go a lot. Very impressed with how well it ran games of different genres. The console is very comfortable to hold. The only real mild complaint I have is that the battery life. Depending on the game and settings the battery can drain somewhat quickly.

It's pretty decent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ally is pretty decent. There are some bizarre QA issues and running Windows occasionally dictates doing a random restart to get things working again, but I can't complain too much. Battery life is laughably bad, making launch day Switch seem like a top tier battery. Most games just work though, and it has enough power in the highest W profile mode to run a lot of fairly demanding games at low settings. Your mileage will vary here, though, depending on what your expectations are. If you have no PC and prefer this form factor, it's a good purchase. If you have a laptop, PC, or Steam Deck, it's hard to recommend.

Great Device!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are familiar with using Windows OS then you should not have any problems using this device. Powerful handheld device and works great on the go. That said, be sure to bring a power brick with you as the battery life on this device suffers, which is expected due to the form factor.

Handhelds are heading the right direction
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You get what you pay for, a $700 low/mid range PC with a great screen and not great battery life. There's potential for handhelds to go somewhere, but it may take bit before we get there.

The future iis BRIGHT
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was extremely excited to grab the Ally on sale during black friday. It has really made me enjoy PC gaming and was fairly priced considering it is for both gamers and a average PC user. Two thing I would love to see on the successor would be an OLED screen and longer batter, however it still doesn't make me regret my purchase.

Powerful handheld
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Powerful handheld device. Setup can be tricky and some things are a bit finicky but overall, it plays all my games I want to play at reasonable settings with a gorgeous screen, great sound and meh battery life (though that doesn’t bother me at all). I’ve had zero issues since I got it.
