I have been very happy with my new ROG Ally. I debated whether to give it 4 or 5 stars due to some of the software and OS issues you are bound to experience, but overall, even with the issues, I appreciate the versatility of the device. Also, I upgraded the storage immediately. Mine now has 2TB internal and 1TB microSD. What an amazing device, especially considering where I started this gaming journey (Atari 2600).

I loved this console, the hardware is amazing to play all kinds of games and emulations with ease. The only problem I've notice is the battery, is not good but it can be solved with a powerbank. Now I'm excited to see the improvements of the new black model.

Just buy it. It's nice to be able play all my PC games on the Ally...it works well battery life at max performance is about 2 hrs. Don't use the SD card reader as it overheats potentially. Planning on upgrading the m.2 2230 SSD to 2tb and performing a battery mod.

I have a ps5 and xbox series x and havent boot them up since i got the ally ... the ps5 and xbox look better graphics wise but on a 7 inch display it looks good . Besides the portability of the device is what won me over . I have kids so its hard to get playing time . Im able to finish my video games really fast

Excellent system, perfect middle ground handheld along the Asus lineup. Competitive as a handheld and is capable for my use case practically as a great hardware mobile computer with Windows/Virtualization.

Overall its a gret device . Excellent speakers, screen. . My only issues was with windows i got it really early on and couldn’t put up with a lot of crashes . Now that i see on sale for 599$ i think is a better deal because you definitely need to upgrade the ssd . And get a good carrier case

probably one of the best handheld consoles ive used in a while. crystal clear clarity with easy reach to all the buttons. does get a bit hot after a bit but its to be expected when youre gaming on essentially a handheld computer. ive been playing on this for about 2 months and havent come across any major issues yet.

I didn’t have high expectations for this unit at all. I am used to using an Alienware m17. Since I use a cross between steam and Xbox ecosystems this was a good portable option to utilize the subscriptions and purchase I already utilize. I played with it for about a week left it on the charger downloading mw3 by the time I got back I got a no boot error. ( I was using a SD card as well). I was not happy. Thankfully I am a stickler for the latest updates. The bios upgrade included cloud restore. I was able to still see the drive so I wiped the system logged on the cloud restore which if you ever had to wipe a system before is a pain this made it very easy. No usb boot drive needed. Since then no issue works like a dream. The customization options are good and getting better with each update. I have been using it more and more over the Xbox and the m17.

My first PC handheld and it is a beast! The only concern I. Have is the battery as games like Diablo lasts for an hour or so. I play Performance so that’s probably why it’s draining but aside from that I’ve been satisfied. Main reason for getting this is to be able to be mobile and have access to games my friends play on PC.

This was almost a 5 star review BUT, I was a victim of the micro SD card debacle. Fried my 1tb micro sd card. So that hurt, BUT Asus seems to be attempting to replace the faulty devices as well as the MicroSD cards so it’s not all bad. Outside of this issue. I love the Ally. Haven’t touched my steam deck since I got this.

Where was this device four years ago? As an owner of several portable gaming systems I am very impressed with the devices power and portability. As a long-time surface owner I am impressed with its usefulness and versatility. As a desktop gamer, when paired with the XG Mobile I'm wondering if I can finally have just a single computer. This is not what I expected to get out of a $700 purchase. It's much MUCH better.

Amazing product and puece of technology. I preffer this so much more over a steam deck. The windows 11 on this which most peoole say is a downside is honestly easy to use and the Amory Crate makes it even better. Its perfect for playing your PC games in bed and not having to sit at your desktop set up. It does everything i want it to do

I've so far just played Baldur's Gate 3 on it, and the hardware is amazing. I don't love the Windows controls using the controller, the buttons and functions don't intuitively map to mouse clicks, but it doesn't prevent actual gaming from being awesome on a handheld. Plays BG3 at ultra settings just fine and looks great.

Hardware is awesome. There is an Ally X but i find the hardware pretty good. The biggest negative is Windows 11. ASUS's app is great at trying to hide the underlying OS but it is hampered by how messy gaming is implemented by game providers under Windows. Terrible for a portable console as the experience is far from seemless. I have seen people convert this to a SteamOS Linux machine and have been happy. I may try that.
