I recently welcomed my 4th boy into the world and this is the perfect handheld system to get the gaming in while laying with the baby. Diablo 4 runs very smooth. Perfect for emulating as well.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find this perfectly fills the gap between grabbing my Steam Deck which I use while cooking and what not because of the suspend/resume functionality and my Alienware which is a burden to set up in the living room (Laptop) to play. This has enough power to do what my Steam Deck cannot. It also is an emulation beast. The three devices work in tandem, but none of them is good enough to outright replace the others. That is the important detail.....You may not be happy with this as your only gaming device....unless you splurge on docking configurations as well.

Need to be said, before you buy make sure that ASUS hasnt abandoned this device. Going to continue to be the best as long as they support it.

If you are running to much stuff, it will sputter and run poorly. The battery life suffers tremendously due to the amazing performance of games. If you want to play with the best and smoothest graphics, expect to be plugged in. The sound on the Ally is awesome. However, hooking up wireless headphones can be a chore.

The one complaint that I have is that I typically play this at night before im going to sleep and the buttons are very loud

I’ve played steam games/epic games and there’s no lag whatsoever. It’s great if you have to travel but still want to play your games + you can play at the comfort of your bed.

Trying to set up various game launchers to work when not on WiFi (aka on a plane) is clunky (not ASUS’ fault), and even when it does work there’s regular issues with crashes and forced-resets (which aren’t easy on the device), triggering startup error message that required reinstalling windows, etc All in all I think it’s almost ready for showtime, but the next iteration will be the one that “just works”. If you are a PC-holic and ready to deal with the janky bs, it’s amazing.

Once you get it up and running, it runs beautifully! There are so many youtube videos thag cna help you optimize it and it can run almost any game on it!
