Great device for pc gaming on the go

I had the steam deck to and its great too but, it is a lot easier to play games on the ROG Ally than it is on the deck, less configurations you gotta do. Just wished the sd card wasn't an issue but you can easily upgrade it to a 2tb ssd.

After i did some research it was pretty simple to figure out and is awesome in handheld gaming. Battery lasted about 4 to 5 hours without charging before i had to charge but it charges fairly fast. Would definitely recommend this product. You can get plenty of steam compatible with the deck and it works really well!

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Title explains itself, the performance is great, but the joysticks mold is bad and makes a clicking sound when moving around, and occasionally you can see the inside of the device from the outside because the molds are bad and wobbly. Additionally, the screen was bad, it looked as if someone ate greasy food and left it there on the svreen for a couple months. I tried cleaning it but it turns out it was on the inside rather than the outside. I exchanged the device for a new one thinking it may have been a one time thing, but it wasnt and the issues were present on the new one aswell.

Stick With Steam Deck

Much like all AMD hardware, while the numbers look good on paper, the results typically don't stand out. Most times, my Steam Deck can outperform the ASUS ROG every time despite the Deck being later RDNA based hardware. The worst part is battery and this thing loves raw power to it's core, like most AMD hardware. Take a pass and stick with the OLED Steam Deck. This thing is just poorly designed all around for a portable PC. However, if you are an Xbox gamer and love Game Pass, this is the hardware for you.

When using the ROG ally I found that it required more power (TDP) for similar levels of performance in indie games as i was seeing on the steam deck. AAA games were able to be played at better frame rates than on the deck, but the SoC was using ~40 watts to do this meaning the battery would last 50minutes. All in all the top end performance is better on the Ally but realistically you would never do this unless connected to power. All in all this device just doesnt make any sense when compared to either the Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go.
