Does exactly what I want it for

So far the only con I personally have is I had to put in effort to find a dock. I dont think asus has a dock made for this yet

This thing is powerful, and asus is doing a good job with the bios updates. I use it just about every day for some street fighter 6.

Overheating and tons of updates required initially

On any power mode beaide silent the cpu and gpu are saying they are running at 90c and the unit is extremely hot. This wasnt obvious at first though as the first 3 hours we spent updating all the asus software and windows updates. I am adding a star for ergonomics and build quality though. The unit feels nice in the hands and comfortable to hold.

It is normal for the device to generate more heat during the initial setup and Windows update since system resource utilization is high. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

Awesome and totally worth it!

I don’t know if it would be good for kids as I’ve needed to navigate around windows, and multiple interfaces, but for what it is, it’s awesome!

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Ally's premise was great at first, but the lack of Quality Assurance and the major design flaw where the SD Card slot is right next to the charging port and the exhaust vents, it's just a gigantic disappointment. Windows 11 as a portable OS is a pain, Armoury Crate is still a buggy mess, and the Price per performance in comparison to the cheapest steam deck really isn't worth it. I'd rather spend the $400 for the base steam deck, spend an extra $80 for 1tb of ssd storage, and it still runs great for the money. If parts break, there is a direct collaboration with Ifixit for parts availability. Tearing the unit down is really easy to open and access as necessary. It goes to show that Valve cares about their product while Asus just churns out devices left and right, hoping something sticks. If anything, they should have recalled their product for all its faults. I've returned and exchanged two Ally's already and their SD cards failed. I'm done giving it a chance and I'll just stick to my Steam Deck.

powerful, compact and great performance

Tons of flaws

Overheats like crazy. Would not recommend until Asus fixes all of the issues with it and works out the ongoing design problems with the device

Love the Ally

Probably best not to purchase it

If you are familiar with Windows 11 then you'll be fine, most games run flawlessly with little to no configuration. The problem is the hardware, I am now on my fourth service appointment in 8 months. The Mirco-SD card reader has now failed twice. Also the fans blew out and broke in to tiny pieces, you could hear the fan pieces rattle when moving the system. Now the fans they replaced sound like jet engines. The issues with the system mean taking it Best Buy for them to ship it off to an ASUS repair center to fix. This may take up to a month. Currently, by my count, in my 8 months of ownership 2 months of it have been waiting on it to return from being repaired. I am writing this review because my Micro-SD Card reader has failed again and i am preparing to lose another month to repairs.

Amazing on mostly all ends

Look wise, power wise and the fact that it is more versatile. Only down side is the heat output but that is to be expected.

Great Device while it lasts...

My son recently tried putting in an SDHC card to expand the memory and it won't read it. After spending over an hour on the phone with Asus, they sent me an RMA form. The only problem is that the RMA link takes me back to Best Buy's website because I purchased it here. Now, I live 25 miles from the nearest Best Buy and the device is still under manufacturer warranty. Why should I have to make a special trip to take it to Best Buy when there is an issue... My son loved the Rog Ally while it worked but both Asus and Best Buy's customer service leave something to be desired. Buyer beware!

Convenient
