My son recently tried putting in an SDHC card to expand the memory and it won't read it. After spending over an hour on the phone with Asus, they sent me an RMA form. The only problem is that the RMA link takes me back to Best Buy's website because I purchased it here. Now, I live 25 miles from the nearest Best Buy and the device is still under manufacturer warranty. Why should I have to make a special trip to take it to Best Buy when there is an issue... My son loved the Rog Ally while it worked but both Asus and Best Buy's customer service leave something to be desired. Buyer beware!

Amazing Steam Deck Competitor

Steam Deck started the wave of cheap gaming handheld PCs and we are starting to see much more options! I love the Asus Rog Ally and for the price, you get amazing specs!

The controller style inputs can be frustrating with a few unsupported games but, more and more are coming our supported.

As a gamer, I have mobile access to my entire steam library, game pass, GOG games, etc. With a foldable Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo, I can work on my writing and even work from home.

Not for everyone though. Users must have some experience with windows PC, its not a turn on and play type of system like the Nintendo Switch.

Now that I have a steam deck OLED I know I made the right choice. I’d consider picking up a refresh of this later, but for now steamOS is too good and the deck has a bit more time and refining behind it.

I just wanted something portable to play D4 on. In the end, it was let down by a home edition of windows 11. The hard reset for the device requires use of the cloud through the bios and kept erroring for me so I had to return it. I had no issues with the hardware, it was rather impressive, but the software was not fit for purpose. Playing D4 through WINE on a steam deck shouldn’t be less of a hassle, but it is.

Even if you have a steam deck this device would still make a good addition to your collection.

Ended up returning as I realized I could buy a laptop to travel with for about the same price with a biggerscreen and the ability to use an external xbox controller and HDMI to a TV whwen at the hotel. I think the SteamDeck got it right with the switch if you really wnat to do handheld gaming as the interface is designed for joy con operation vs Windows based mobile gaming. Feels like the Windows phone all over again.
