We are sorry to hear that you ran into an overheating issue with your ROG Ally. That is definitely not the norm and is not the kind of quality to expect from ASUS products. If you still have the product we recommend returning it to us via an RMA to get it serviced under warranty and the SD card issue investigated. Before can do so we would need the following information:
1. SD card brand and model
2. SD card capacity
3. SD card is first time use?
4. SD card worked on other devices after failing on the Ally?
5. Thermal profile usually used > Silent / performance / turbo / manual
If manual, please provide us with the fan curve.
6. How much storage capacity has been used on the SD card

Open box issues

After powering up, the last users Windows information was still on the device and it was unable to be factory reset. I called Geek Squad and they told me to contact Asus support for further help. Turns out, the recovery partition was corrupted and the unit had to be sent into Asus for repair which is where I stand with the device right now. When I bought it open box I figured a few scratches here and there would be no big deal, at least I could use the device. This wasnt the case, thankfully it was still under manufacturing warranty so the repair was free but oh boy what a headache. In store service was great though, picking up my order was really smooth.

Well, 3 weeks in, my ssd crashed and only boots to bios. Best Buy has the worst return policy of any major company (15 days), and I had to RMA my 3 week old ALLY through ASUS. When it worked, I loved it.
