Almost unusable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Admittedly this is a 4hr of ownership review - which admittedly is usually not a full scope but this thing is so difficult I cant imagine owning it longer than it takes for Best Buy to open in the morning. Started during setup.... was driven mad by the setup having areas requiring screen touch then others requiring clicks (literally same "button" on one screen just dead using screen, so click, very next screen the reverse happens... cant click, must tap screen). Then finally set it up, download an xbox title.... "play" button dead.... cant click, cant screen tap... id call that epitome of a 1 star is a handheld gaming you cant play a game on. Decided to do cloud gaming option...just loads endlessly.... so again, trying to use a gaming device and cant game 0-2. I could probably see if it has minesweeper I suppose but think it I've tested enough

Handheld Update Simulator

I'm older and don't have a lot of time to dedicate to gaming. I bought this thinking I could pick it up and game where I was. However, all it does is update. 90 percent of the usage of my ally.....is running hours and hours of endless updates.

Idea is nice but the result is not so nice

Way too many bugs. Shouldve waited on a release for a better product. Not clear what any game settings has to run in. Bought on a Thursday, returning not even a few days later. Definitely wouldnt spend more than $150 on this right now.

The device went into intensive testing with no problem found. If you are experiencing system stability or bug, please check if Windows, drivers and BIOS ae up to date. Also, if accessing cloud games, please check if the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor and unstable internet connection will definitely affect system speed and performance.

Major Open Box Issue

My biggest issue and for me giving a 1 star review is for the QC checks geek squad does for any device they deem fit to put back on the shelf. My rog ally had one huge issue. Not only was the device not factory reset, but the original owner had bitlocker enabled in windows 11. Unless you have access to the original owners microsoft account to aquire the access key to factory reset the device. The only ways you can fix this is to try to get it replaced, try to bypass the bitlocker, or flat out replacing the ssd. For the average consumer, to have to go through this much hassle all because of a QC failure is completely unacceptable.

Buggy and broken

In the few hours put into the device I had small indie games take an hour to install after downloading, the controller cutting out and stop working just to kick back in during gameplay, games randomly having errors and failing to start but only occasionally, issues with armory software not fitting the screen because the app is too big, and we’ll as other annoyances. The big deal breaker though was that the speakers were shot straight out of the box. They had a loud static sound that gets louder with highs and drowns out the audio when it gets busy. This issue persisted at all volume levels. Between the software and hardware issues this was an easy return. This was launched way too early.

If you are still experiencing slow system speed or performance issue after updating Windows an drivers, please check if the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor and unstable internet connection will definitely affect system speed and performance. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. Love the idea but?

Second one sd reader died while killing my sd card. Sent in for repair, 3 weeks later received back and card reader does not work. Waiting on RMA from Asus to buy it back.

Windows needs work

The left bumper button started to feel mushy and had little feedback after a couple of play time hours. Had multiple error messages pop up when booting it for the first time. The face buttons feel very cheap like a kids toy and had a lot of wiggle.
