The Rog Ally is a wonderful tool, a full fledged gaming pc in your hands. It is very useful and enjoyable. Only criticism is when its on extreme mode, and you are playing a game it gets very hot, and maybe lasts about 2 hours. Its worth every penny.

Pros: -It's powerful. -It feels nice in hand and is lighter than it looks, -Superior ergonomics to the switch, no claw hands. -It runs Windows so no compatibility issues there. Cons: -Chews through its battery when pegged but older games can get away with running on the lowest performance profile so your mileage may vary on that topic. -It runs Windows, with all the downsides that come with that like updates at inopportune moments, login PIN randomly breaking locking you out of your device, etc. -Configurable trackpads like the Deck would be nice.

Overall very minor issues with this thing, but if you do your research and you know what you are getting into, it shouldn't come as a surprise. Its great in that it is a fully functioning handheld PC. The UI is a little buggy at times. Games great. Runs AAA titles at a solid 60 fps as long as it is plugged in. When it's not plugged in the boost is ever so slightly lower and the battery is somewhat limited. Next version will have an upgraded battery life. All in all i love it for what I use it for.

My only issue is how slow it dies, but other than that, the specs are great, it runs smooth and it has a good hand feel.

I'm thrilled with my purchase of the ASUS ROG Ally. This laptop is a beast in terms of performance, delivering smooth operation in all my tasks, from intensive gaming to multitasking work. The sound is impressive, with quality that truly enhances my gaming and entertainment experience. My only minor gripe would be the battery life, which could be a bit longer for added convenience during long commutes. However, overall, I would highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a powerful and reliable laptop for their gaming or work needs.

this is great handheld to play pc games but if is your first time playing pc games. it going to be little hard for you to set it up. it required a microsoft account and created another account plus doing a lot of updates and downloading. but you can play any game at good resolution and run good fps. on this handheld you can play at any planform like Steam ,Epic games, xbox and many more.

Its a PC in your hands. Operates well, isnt as heavy as i thought it would feel. Hinestly the only downside to this is the battery life, but that can be solved with an external battery pack. Definitely worth it if you like to game on the go.

Great handheld PC. I picked this up as a used in excellent condition. I have been using this device for about 2 weeks now. The ROG Ally plays all my favorite games with it with out the use of the internet. If I have WiFi I play Helldivers 2 and have zero problems. When I am on the go I have been playing Fallout 4 again and it is beautiful. Only having 512 GB of storage at first felt small, but I don’t play to many games at once. You can easily pick up a new M.2 in 1 or 2 TB sizes and make the upgrade really easily.

Product works as described. It’s able to play most AAA games without issues. The battery life is a bit short, and so I would recommend to play with it plugged in. The storage capacity is also a bit smaller, therefore it would be worth to look into upgrading the SSD. I have had no issues running Steam games and Xbox games on this device. Overall, I would recommend folks to buy if you want a budget friendly handheld gaming device that rivals even consoles.

For what it is, the ROG Ally is pretty good at what it does. This is a hand held computer that runs off Windows 11. You get the opportunity to play nearly any game that runs on windows, but you may not get the smooth user experience thst you’d get with a device that was built around gaming as the center piece. The battry life leaves much to be desired since the highest power mode hsually lends to the “best” gaming experience. One of the biggest perks are you get the opportunity to upgrade the internal storage if you wish and the thermals aren’thalf bad for what it is. The only gripes are the issues surrounding the SD Card reader along with the clubky UI.

This is truly a mobile gaming PC. For heavy duty gaming, make no mistake you will need to have it plugged into power or you might get an hour or so on battery. For less graphic intense gaming (indie, board games, etc) you can adjust power and get a decent amount of battery life. I have been able to run everything I've wanted from Steam, emulators and downloads. It can take some tweaking and playing with settings to get graphics and controls working right, but usually telling the program you are using a Microsoft 360 control will get everything working right. The sound kicks butt for such a small unit. Coming from the switch, the difference is incredible. You can get an accessory plug with monitor and USB connection making this a potential laptop replacement. Full windows functionality. I really have zero complaints.

Works great, good quality, and plays an array of games with its great processing power. I do wish the battery lasted a bit longer though. I feel like I have to keep it plugged in for it to really be effective.

Disclaimer - I play both console and PC games on a regular basis, but I'm not a hardcore gamer. This is more of a casual gamer's review. With that in mind, I'll say that this product REALLY impresses me, especially the screen size and ergonomic design. I can play on this for hours without my hands feeling cramped or tired, and I like the screen and design much better than other handhelds in its class. *BUT* there are some important things to know before you buy. One is that you can't really play for hours unless you're plugged in. The high-performance mode of gameplay is only going to be active while you're plugged in to a power supply. When you're not plugged in, performance does suffer (it's a slight change to me, but hardcore gamers will definitely be bothered by it), and you also only get about 1.5 hours of gameplay out of it when unplugged (maybe 2h if you're lucky). Another major downside is the lack of ports. There's a headphone jack and it does have the ability to connect via bluetooth, but there is only the one USB-C port. You can plug in devices (I use AR glasses with mine), but you can't plug the Ally in to charge while anything else is plugged in to it. You need a very special adapter to be able to do that (I tried a handful that didn't work, so do research before you waste your money). Lastly, and to some people very importantly, the Ally is famous for burning through SD card slots. I'm not 100% clear on whether it burns through the cards or the slot itself, but so far it seems like the majority of reports say that it's the slot itself. Sure enough, we purchased an SD card for extra storage space, and within 1 week of play the Ally already couldn't recognize any SD cards that were plugged in. I'm not a techie, but it seems like putting the SD card slot at the hottest part of the device wasn't the greatest idea... Anyway, in summary, this is a good product but it DEFINITELY has its limitations, and I would make sure to do your research and confirm these are all OK with you before you shell out the money for one of these!

Handheld gaming PC for 1/2 the price of a traditional gaming laptop. This device is not perfect. The battery life is not that great but the performance is on par. Not all games are compatible with the ROG just like the steam deck but more and more are becoming so. You can connect a keyboard/mouse via bluetood. Perfect for those who are traveling but hope theres a plug near by if you plan to use it for more than 1.5hours. No issues with heat like most ROG products.

Ok, as a Steamdeck owner i cam out of the gate with some expectations. For the most part those expectations were met however there are a few things this needed before going to market. One it needs its own software for ease of use. Now i have been using these things for 40+ years. Im talking about the folks who aren’t as familiar. Armory Crate is fine for RGB control but it sucks as a game launcher. Second it needs a bigger battery, if you are runbing this on Turbo mode for best performance, youre only going to get about an hour or so out of it. And thirdly less bloat

Pair this thing with a dock and a high refresh rate monitor and you got a decent PC gaming set up. I got this device thinking it would be a great companion to my main PC and it surpassed my expectations. The only drawbacks really are the loose feeling analog sticks and battery life. Ordered the Ally X today to see if it completely eliminates my concerns. If you're use to gaming with low-mid graphics settings this would be a fire set up for the price.

The ROG performs perfectly as a pc set up to play pretty much any game your heart desires! Steam games play beautifully! The Xbox gameplay is awesome as well! I do suggest you buy yourself a mini 1TB SD card and insert it into your rog ally ‘lisen’ docking station. You can save all your computer/steam files on this SD card! Have a extra 1-2Tb usb external hard drive plugged into the docking station as well so when you’re docked at home you can plug and play right into your tv through the hdmi. The rog has blew my hair back as a gaming system! I never would have thought I would be playing any game that can be played with a controller on the go.. with the docking station it makes it easy to go from Xbox gaming to instant pc gaming and easy switch back and forth. Thanks for inventing this device!

An amazing portable device that lets you play all your PC titles on the go or even in desktop mode. Storage is way too small for nowadays and battery drains rapidly on intensive games. It has its flaws but could be improved with accessories and upgrades.
