Honestly what i expected, only handheld I’ve had gas been the switch lite and considering this is more powerful the battery life is understandable. It’s not perfect and you will need to tweak settings and or be close to a true power source. With the current updates that were released (12/21/2023) it has tremendously helped games like CyberPunk 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc run more smoothly in the 15w option while not killing the battery within 1.5 hour . Pushing about 1.75/2.5 hours in total now.

Has enough power to play all the games I play at decent settings. Can upgrade the internal storage if needed. Battery life isn’t great but I typically will carry around a battery bank anyway. If your mainly going to use at home this is a great way to save money over the X

When I purchased this product, I couldn’t wait to open it and get started. I never experienced a better handheld device in my entire life and I’m so thankful that the ROG was my first one. It was the fastest I’ve ever used and I used a lot of computers in my life. This by far was the most advanced that I ever used. I would recommend buying it because not only can you play all sorts of video games, but you can surf the web on the go! Great purchase and I don’t regret it.

This is a great handheld device. The battery life leaves a bit to be desired but that is to be expected with such a compact device pushing this much power. The internal layout is very diy when it comes to fixing or replacing parts. 120hz refresh rate and the ips display looks really nice. This machine can run a lot of games from emulation all the way up to modern AAA titles with some caveats when it comes to newer more demanding titles. Windows is not the best for a handheld if you are not used to pc gaming but it allows for compatibility with pretty much any game. Also you can load your own OS if you want a more steam deck "like" experience. The price could be a bit better but I wouldn't say it's overpriced for what you get.

Love the LG Z1 Extreme Ally. Plays most titles at an acceptable level. The Nvme drive was too small so upgraded to a 2TB model. I recommend a dock and carrying case, as it is nice to be able to prop the device up on a table top. I would recommend the OG model over the X to save yourself a few hundred dolllars.

Awesome value for what it costs. Being able to play basically all P.C. games while being mobile is great. It powerful on its own for mobile play and then you also have the option for an eGPU when at home and want more power.

So I’ve been playing with my ROG Ally for over 2 months now and it is amazing! It runs BO6 just fine and plenty of steam games smoothly! Only downside is if you are playing a performance game the battery doesn’t last long maybe 2 or 3 hours but on a not so demanding game and running on silent it last for about 6 - 7 hours

The Ally ROG is a sweet Handheld gaming device. It has the benefits of a full computer running windows 11 plus all the benefits of a gaming device. It works well with Steam, Epic, X-Box and other gaming platforms. The gaming controls are easy to use but I wished they would provide better feedback when playing a game. The touch screen is responsive and easy to use. Connect the Ally to an external monitor, a mouse and you have a fully functional PC. But battery life could be better. Depending on the game you might get between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. However, the fast charging makes up for it. To get a full charge, it will take between 30 to 40 minutes. lot people have complained about the SD card not working because it is too close to the heat exhaust fans. So far I haven't seen or experience any issues with the SD card. If you are looking for a simple but sweet Handheld gaming device on the go, I think the Ally ROG is a good device for the price point.

Despite the poor battery life with the ROG Ally, it actually performs really well with modern AAA games. I've played a number of hardware heavy games on it, and all of them played well so far. The only con that Ive had personally would be the lack of a track pad, however it's not a huge negative. The setup for the ROG Ally was a but of hassel as I wasnt able to use the keyboard as it was a requirement to configure my wifi. Despite that, I was able to find a solution online which told me hold one of the mappable buttons on the back of the ally, while pressing up on the dpad to being it up. The ROG Ally has been great since its purchase and I enjoy it.

    Power vs battery

There's no doubt this machine is the more powerful of the recent pc handhelds. That power does come at a cost and that's the battery life. If you don't mind carrying the charger around it's not a big issue but it does get considerably less battery life vs steam deck and MSIs handheld. It runs smooth though, powerful enough to play games like destiny 2 at a decent frame rate. Games like genshin impact fun flawlessly with no fps issues. Palworld ran pretty well as well. If you're ok with sacificing the battery life for more power than definitely pick up a rog ally.

This is a great device as long as you know what you're doing. For example, you will likely need to adjust the VRAM allocated to the GPU and if you want to access the gyro functionality, you will have to use a third party program like HandHeld Companion. There is no dedicated interface like on the Steam Deck, but you can work around this by using Steam big picture (I wouldnt recommend using Armoury Crate to launch games). It is, however, a very powerful device and will run your games great, albeit on a short battery life.

At its price point it can play most PC game good at 1080p. But even when the frames dropped it wasn't a bad experience because there was no screen tearing or skipping. AMD did a good job with this one.

It's a very powerful handheld pc . It plays everything you throw at it , but there is work involved especially setting it up over 2 weeks later im still fine tuning everything. If you don't likw to tinker this handheld isnt for you . Also my sd reader quite working but my micro sd works on the charging dock ( sold separately) with micro usb adapter . I think it's a design flaw where they put the sd reader . Other than that i love this thing with a 2 tb 2230 ssd m.2 gen 4 its worth upgrading but then your up around 900$ after taxes on hanheld then 110 for 1tb micro plus 220 for 3 year geek protection. I got arou d 12000 wrapped in this thing but i am happy. It's not for everyone i work away from home a week at a time .

The Ally is as cool as it looks. Running windows was a huge plus for me as I’m not as comfortable working with Linux. It does run games a lot better than the Steamdeck, but you have to realize it draws a lot more power to do so. Playing non demanding games: perfect, the battery will last a few hours for sure. Playing triple A games however… expect about an hour (or a little less) of solid gaming before your battery is dead. I usually play plugged in, whether it be the included charger or a battery pack, but I guess I was hoping for a bit more with the battery life.

I've had the ROG ally for about a month now and it's been a very good device for taking my PC games on the go. It's very portable not too heavy and I actually like the thumbsticks on this compared to other devices. Some games I play on the ROG ally are destiny 2 , Titan fall 2, Skyrim, assassin's creed Odyssey, shovel knighr, and Warframe and it runs these games really well. It's easy to log into Windows with the fingerprint sensor and the speakers are really good quality. The thumbsticks are also good for first person shooter games and overall this is one of the best handheld PC's on the market when it comes to performance.

The rog ally is a great pc handheld. Powerful to play any and ever game you can imagine. Plays any steam game, xbox, and can even use this for ps remote play. The battery life is short but i usually keep mine plugged into wall while play or have it docked to the tv. I absolutely love the rog ally

I bought this to use for work (i drive semi and i sit at customers some days for a hour or 2) ive had it since the end of last year and the only 2 things i can complain about is the battery life (i got a power converter in the truck and a charger to fix that) and the sd card slot burnt out after a bit. Or my sd card, idk i just upgraded the m.2

As a Day 1 buyer i can say ive been having alot of fun using the Asus Ally. Its a great device to have if you're a on the go gamer and might not have the time or luxury to sit down at home and unwind for a bit. The Ally has its flaws with Battery Life and the Micro SD slot, ill admit. My only gripe with the Ally is obviously the Battery Life, but thats expected on how much performance you can get out of it. I know most people just want to pick up the gaming device and have a smooth gaming experience which you absolutely can, it just takes a little more tinkering around with settings to get your preferred setup. Needless to say the Asus ally is a great product for both Casual and Hardcore gamers.
