Has Potential
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has some serious potential but has many flaws (probably due to it being a new product). There are major deadzones in the joysticks and the SD card reader did not work. The screen quality and overall gaming performance was better than expected though. I ended up returning the item due ti the deadzones and sd card issue though.

Don’t listen to reviews just see it for yourself!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my rog Ally. It suits my needs fully. Highly suggested. I know it gets a bit of hate online but something to consider is that a lot of these people are serious gamers who want the same experience they get on their pc and at the moment thats just not possible, think how many expensive parts go into making a pc run that well then come back and compare it to a 700 dollar handheld pc. So far I’ve had no problem playing everything in my library, and I’ve been enjoying every minute of it because I got this for the ability to play whatever game I can get my hands on anywhere I’am unlike the steam deck which is forced to pretty much just running and launching steam games, I know there’s ways around this now but who wants to have to download and install programs to do what the Ally could do fresh out the box on a Steamdeck. Also size was a big selling point for me I wanted something that was portable and the steam deck and Lenovo go are just too big for me the ally is the perfect size fits well in my hands and does not weigh much, for me personally is comfortable. Now I know a lot of people are gonna get turned off by the battery life but a 65w power bank can fix this. Y’all need to keep in mind that this little handheld is really powerful and as a result the battery life takes a hit I don’t mind having power over battery as I’ve managed to fulfill my gaming needs on the go perfectly with this, I can get a full hour of gaming during my break at work and still have good amount of battery left so I’m satisfied! P.s storage is pretty low but It’s sooo easy to change for that it still gets a 5 from me!

Amazing for me, though still needs work.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Haven’t touched my desktop since buying this. I get that most people would be horrified by this fact, asking “What the hell is wrong with you?” Weirdly enough, I’ve discovered that I MUCH prefer handhelds over sitting at my desk all day. Pros: Display is beautiful, runs pretty much every game (including Baldur’s Gate 3) at a decent or amazing framerate, and you can use any preferred game launcher besides Armory Crate — personally, I prefer Steam Big Picture. The RGB under the joysticks are customizable and pretty rad to look at, and since this is windows, you can install anything a gaming laptop can. Cons: the battery life is, frankly, abysmal, but personally it doesn’t bother me that much since I game in bed next to an outlet. Windows, more often than I’d like to admit, adds up small annoyances like the gamepad mode going in and out, windows updates at inconvenient times, and having useless applications like Microsoft Teams or Excel (for some reason) pre-installed. Also, Microsoft Edge. Also, for the price, it’s disappointing that a case isn’t included with the handheld itself. There’s also, strangely enough, no proper sleep mode. Overall, the cons I listed aren’t that big of deals to me; just something I hope are improved on in the future. This has still been an utter blast to play on, tweaking here and there aside.

ROG Ally Review
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome, solid build and great performance. I was able to play Cyberpunk on it with no lag. Downside, any games that require accuracy like shooter games is very difficult to play.

Good but flawed
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros:Versatility: PC consoles offer the best of both worlds, combining the power and flexibility of a gaming PC with the convenience and form factor of a traditional console.Graphics Performance: With high-end GPUs and CPUs, PC consoles can deliver exceptional graphics and performance, often surpassing what's possible on dedicated gaming consoles.Game Library: You have access to a vast library of games, including PC exclusives, older titles, and the latest releases on platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and more.Modding Support: PC consoles often support modding, allowing players to customize and enhance their gaming experiences with user-created content.Upgradability: Unlike traditional consoles, PC consoles are highly upgradable, allowing you to swap out components like GPUs, CPUs, and RAM to keep up with the latest hardware.Cons:Price: PC consoles can be more expensive than traditional gaming consoles, especially if you opt for high-end components.Complexity: Setting up and maintaining a gaming PC can be more complex than using a dedicated gaming console, which is designed for plug-and-play simplicity.Compatibility: Not all PC games are optimized for controller input, so some games may require keyboard and mouse usage, which can be less comfortable for console gamers.Hardware Variability: The performance of a PC console can vary depending on the components chosen, so it's essential to research and invest in quality parts. Conclusion:A PC console is an excellent choice for gamers who value performance, versatility, and access to a vast game library. While it may require a higher initial investment and some technical know-how, the ability to upgrade and customize your gaming rig can result in a top-notch gaming experience that's hard to beat. However, if you prefer a more straightforward and budget-friendly gaming experience, a traditional console might be a better fit.

MUST HAVE!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LOVE IT! i use this as a laptop and gaming and man this thing is FAST! graphics are amazing, charging it will also increase the graphics a bit higher while playing. My only one problem is that battery runs out fast after an hour an a half of playing. cant take this outside and play like i did with my other handheld device but other than that, everything is perfect

Awesome machine
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I really like this handheld so far. I have not had a steam deck so I can’t compare. I instantly pulled out the 512gb and installed a 2TB. This handheld is able to play AAA games. It runs on Windows 11 so they say if it can play on windows it can on here. The only draw back that i see is the little battery life, which i knew going into this. The only other thing is you have to like to tinker with it to get it to run to your liking. Its easy but not as easy as a Nintendo where you cplay without tinkering.

Love it - BUT
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I fell in love right away with this baby, I love the feeling of setting it up, doing some research of what to do to get more fps, how to optimize it, etc, etc, though for a lot of other people which I think is the majority can go with the wrong impression of this being a normal console that you push the power button, select the game and start gaming, this is totally different, this should be treated as a mini pc with joysticks, there's a bunch of things you have/might want to do in order to get the best out of this, you need to download a bunch of launchers and stores in order to play your favorite games and have this updated on a regular basis to get the best performance, a lot of times you have to do sometimes you have to get creative and do some hacky things in order to play games if the games are not optimized to be played with a controller. I would seriously recommend this to a select group if people who are pc enthusiasts and that have some experience with common issues a pc can have and to be able to be on top of the glitchy and buggy things you might find. It's a powerful little beast.

Get the Ally X
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Consider the black model with better performance, battery life, and storage instead of the base white model with the z extreme chip. The 1080p/120hz claim is achievable only with the 65w wall charger. Without an outlet, play on low settings under 60fps for about an hour and a half on a full charge. The Ally X model is a worthy competitor to the Steam Deck. The base model is disappointing.

Posted .Dear Robbie,
Thank you for your feedback.
Indeed, the ROG Ally X or the black version offers significant upgrades in performance, battery, and storage over the original white ROG Ally model, a larger battery, more storage size, faster RAM and improve ergonomics and design.

Awesome handheld gaming PC
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome for PC handheld gaming. This thing is a mini PC that runs surprisingly very well. Now granted, I always play plugged in. I’ve played a few times just on battery and you’re lucky to get an hour of game play. You probably have to set all of the settings to low. I can’t play like that. Storage sucks but I upgraded the SSD on day one.

Almost a perfect handheld PC
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm loving my Rog Ally It's essentially a hand held laptop to play all my games. i had choice between this and steam deck. however i'm more comfortable with window 11 than linux so i chose this. the Ally is also more powerful than the steam deck. the only major fault i have against the Ally is the horrible battery life. however the Ally does combat that weakness with fast charging.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I am an early adopter to the steam deck and I loved that system! So I had a hard time justifying this purchase. I didn’t think anything could top it but this completely does and has far exceeded my expectations! PS3 emulation is flawless it runs ncaa 14 better than my ps3! I would highly recommend this device if you understand how windows 11 works… buy it you won’t be disappointed! Only negative is I will have to swap my ssd for a larger drive. It’s 2023 everything should come minimum with a 1 tb drive.

Gaming has come a long way
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to play games on the go and while the wife watches TV. This is basically a PC in handheld form. Although small, dont be fooled. This thing is comparable to a PS5 in term of specs and playing games like Tomb Raider and Fallout is amazing on the go. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Also, iy can run steam, gamepass (PC version) and all other store fronts

Frustration
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros great screen, speakers built-in speakers graphics overall design great game play. Really good for those that already know how to play computer based games and set up Negatives Windows interface very difficult to maneuver around. Almost thought about returning this unit. Battery life sucks, must be plugged into a Battery Source 50% of the time or a wall outlet I have mine connected to a portable battery the echo flow yet it drains it really quick possibly two charges. Difficult to learn the functionalities watch numerous videos and tutorials. Definitely not using friendly. Xbox game pass had it for a week I still have any loaded one game yet super duper slow. Will not sign up after the trial period unless you want to wait 1 to 2 weeks to play one game. Should be price on the Nintendo range way overpriced for a lack of simplicity of use and interface. Maybe Best Buy be nice enough to give me the $400 so I don't have to return the unit Recommendation have a virtual keyboard extra battery source and tons of patience I have you know to switch about the game selection sucks and pricey maybe I should have gone with the steam deck.
