Auto-Empty Base is Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Cordless Detect Pro system is a nice addition to our household. Our house is about 2600 sq ft and the flooring consists of both wood and carpet. Setup was easy and only took about 10 minutes and the battery had to be charged before the first use. The stand is sturdy, and it holds the vacuum in place once its set into the base. The power cord is only about 4 ft long so you will need to keep it close to an outlet unless you use an extension cord. It comes with 2 tool attachments, a crevice tool and a multi-tool brush, but the base can only hold the crevice tool. There is only 1 battery included and no spare filters. The vacuum itself is light and easy to wheel around the house. Cleaning the floor on high I managed to get through 4 rooms and a hall before I had to recharge. Using the auto detect mode keeps the vacuum on low until it detects dirt, and it increases suction for a moment to help pick up the dirt. This works well for light dirt and dust, but it tends to push heavier items like litter around the floor unless you manually increase the suction. We found it works best setting the suction manually to pick up everything, but the battery life isn’t there with one battery for a larger home. A second included battery or even a larger battery would have been nice. The included multi-tool works well to get pet hair off furniture and the brushroll does a good job pulling pet hair up from carpet and rugs. When done cleaning, put the vacuum back into the base and it will chime to let you know it’s connected and start to charge. The base will detect the vacuum is there and automatically turn on to empty the vacuum into the base. This feature is great, and it makes emptying out the vacuum so much easier, however it can get clogged. The opening that allows the base to suck the dirt out of the vacuum is a little small. On several occasions the vacuum collected so much pet hair that it clogged when the base turned on and tried to empty the vacuum. It didn’t take much to unclog, but it was a pain that had to be dealt with. The base is easy to empty and you don’t need bags, so no extra cost there. Overall, it’s a nice vacuum and we really like it, especially with the base. The auto empty feature is awesome. I just wish it came with either a second battery or a larger battery so I could get through our whole house.

Self Emptying is cool, but..
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Came from a Dyson with a laser - Thought the light would be similar, It is not. Also, if you DON'T want the vacuum "smell" that comes with dogs, don't get this. My house doesn't stink, but this vacuum does. It also scratches my wood floor and doesn't have great suction.

The Popular Shark
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Shark Wandvac self-empty vacuum, and it is by far the most popular vacuum in the house. Since no one has to figure out how to empty it, they’re more likely to grab it and use it. So, I thought I’d try out this new, bigger and fancier model and it’s been just as successful. It’s not perfect, but it’s the new most popular vacuum in the house. We have a lot of cats in the household and have mainly tile and wood flooring with some area rugs around. We also still have one stretch of carpet on our stairs. The Detect Pro vacuum works great on all these surfaces. I like how it automatically adjusts the motor and suction speed based on the surface and when it detects you’re near a wall edge. It ramps up the brush roller speed nicely on the Ruggable rugs to get them clean but isn’t so strong that it pulls the rug from its pad. (If you have a Ruggable rug, you probably know what I’m talking about.) It also adjusts the suction power based on how much dirt it senses being picked up, while lighting up the LEDs to show you what it’s doing (red is lots of dirt, and blue is cleaner). This is handy sometimes on the rugs because they can have a lot of hair that’s not very visible. If the LED is red, I’ll keep going over the area until it turns blue, and I know I’ve picked up most of the hair. The handheld part of the vacuum is a lot bigger and heavier than the Wandvac model, but for me it’s still easy to use. Someone with smaller hands might get a little tired using it, though. In fact, it’s even a little awkward for me to hold the grip and reach the on/off button with one hand. It’s doable, but it took some getting used to. The benefits to the larger size, though, are worth it in my book. It not only has a larger battery, but also a larger dust collection cup so you can go longer without worrying about emptying it. It almost seems frivolous at first, but the auto-empty feature is what really makes this vacuum a workhorse. As I said earlier, people are more likely to use it when they know they only have to put it back on the charger and they’re done. It also keeps a lot of dust out of the air that comes from emptying it at the trash can. Another nice touch with this model is that it comes with a little scent module that adds a little burst of “freshness” (you can adjust the amount) to the exhaust air from the base station when it empties. I mentioned it wasn’t perfect, so here are a couple of minor things that I don’t like about the vacuum. It comes with two tool attachments (crevice and brush), but there’s only storage for one on the base. It seems like such a simple thing that I don’t understand why vacuum manufacturers keep overlooking that. It would be perfect if there was a place to attach one on the stick part of the vacuum. I always carry the crevice tool with me because there’s always some little spot to clean up that the roller brush can’t quite reach. I either have to carry the tool in one hand, or stuff it in my back pocket. The other minor thing is the base station is white, yet the power cord is black. I wish they’d made it white to match and blend in with the wall better. I know, this is nitpicking. It’s a great vacuum and I’m happy I got it, but they missed a perfect vacuum by “that much” as Maxwell Smart used to say.

Lightweight and Easy Cleanup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to setup out of the box and very easy to use. The vacuum motor and dirt bin snap into the stick that snaps into the floor brush. You should probably charge the battery when you first open it but I was anxious to see how it worked, luckily it had enough battery. The automatic emptying station was easy to setup as well. Once it’s plugged in, there’s an odor eliminating air freshener that sits on top of the unit and that’s basically all of the setup. The vacuum itself is very light weight. There’s a power button that turns it on and it’s just on until you turn it off, no triggers to hold. In automatic mode, it adjusts power level based on the amount of dirt detected and the surfaces you’re on. If you just want a specific power mode, there’s a button for switching between the modes. There’s a low power eco mode, a high power mode, and then the automatic mode that uses the intelligent features that accompany this vacuum. The automatic mode mostly seems as if it runs in eco mode. If it detects that it’s over a high soil area, whether it’s kitchen crumbs or cat dander, it picks up power and add extra suction. It also adds a boost when running along the edge of a wall. What’s neat is the LED lights will illuminate along the side that’s along the wall, helping illuminate any dirt along the edges. It does a great job of picking up, even the lower powered eco mode picks up litter pellets with ease. It does pick up a bit of power when it hits carpet which is expected. There’s a few filters in the unit that help keep the air clean. It didn’t come with any extra filters so when it’s time to replace them, you’ll need to buy them. The collection bin is fairly large. It says it holds 30 days of dirt but I imagine that depends on how dirty your floors stay. It lifts up easily and has a handle for easy carrying to the bin. The vacuum sits in a cradle that both charges and empties it when you sit it on there. The emptying process worked every time I used it but sometimes there’s still a bit of hair hanging out from the trap door. I also like how easily the brush assembly comes off so you can clean it. There are 2 accessories that come with the vacuum, a brush, and a narrow attachment for getting into small spaces. I would have liked to seen a smaller, powered, upholstery roller to help with pet dander but I’ll keep an eye out for one on their page or 3rd party. Also the stick is required for the self cleaning base and charging to work as the contacts for charging is on the stick. Not a huge deal but It’s a bit strange that the main unit is very dependent on the stick. Overall the weight to power ratio on this vacuum is great. The intelligent cleaning features help get all the tough places clean and the auto emptying base station makes it all so convenient as well.

Ok for quick grab & clean vacuum, but pricey
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GOOD - Auto mode detection does switch suction power based on surface - Auto-empty station doesn't require wall mounting - Hair-wrap prevention features work BAD - Delay in mode switching is annoying - 15 minute battery when in auto mode - Small dust bin fills up fast - Grip and ergonomics could be better - No storage for attachments TLDR The Detect Pro works well for periodic spot cleaning, vacuuming up the kitchen floor after meals, cleaning up the entry way when the kids come in after playing in the dirt, etc. The charge stand doesn't requiring any wall installation and keeps the vacuum charged up, empty bin, ready to go when needed. But a short battery life and small dust bin limits general household cleaning capabilities. DETAILS I'm a big fan of battery vacuums as they're easy to use around the house, don't require dragging a cord all over, all that stuff. However not much has changed in battery life and capabilities in many years. Though this Detect Pro promises 40 minutes of runtime, that's only in Eco mode, the lowest power setting. Switching to Eco also disables the auto mode detect feature, which is the feature the vacuum model is named after. Eco mode is good enough for hard floors, but doesn't do very well on carpet, especially high-traffic areas. When using the normal detect mode, expect 15 - 20 minutes of use at most. When using it in normal mode, the detect feature does work and it will automatically change how the vacuum operates. On hardwood, the beater bar spins slower and the suction motor slows down a bit. When you go onto carpet, the beater speeds up and suction increases. The power head has a sensor on each side that will switch to edge cleaning mode when it gets within an inch of a wall. However, there's a notable delay ( a second or two ) before the switch happens. Making it worse, the programming acts on every trigger and isn't smart enough to disregard momentary blips and "false positives." If you're cleaning a rug and the head momentarily goes onto the hardwood before going right back to the rug, it will switch to Eco mode for a few seconds before going back to carpet mode. Perhaps most annoying is the edge cleaning constantly turning on and off when you're vacuuming around chairs, under desks, around table legs, etc. In terms of actual cleaning performance, the Detect Pro is adequate. That is to say it of course won't have the suction or cleaning power of your corded standup. It does well enough for a battery vacuum. Shark claims the beater brush has some kind of anti-tangle technology to keep hair and long fibers from wrapping around the beater bar, and this holds true from what I've seen. Another mark against it is the comfort and ergonomics, which I found quite lacking. The handle is pretty far below the axis of the main shaft and it makes the balance feel off when trying to maneuver it around obstacles. The main body extends a couple inches back from the grip. It's a very long reach for your thumb to touch the control buttons while still holding the grip. It also puts the frame above your wrist, which isn't comfortable if you're reaching down and trying to vacuum under a table or chair. The charging stand, with the auto-empty feature works well, but has limitations. On the nice side, the stand doesn't need to be mounted to a wall and doesn't take up that much more space than a typical wall hanging mount for other vacuums. Every time you dock the vacuum, a motor in the dock spins up and sucks the dirt out of the bin on the vacuum itself. And really, this is the only way you'll want to empty the onboard bin as it's clumsy to open and wasn't designed to just pour it directly into the trash. The bin is also quite small and will need to be emptied frequently, even multiple times within a single battery charge. The auto empty function works pretty well for the most part, though can be loud ( it does have a quiet mode you can use ). the base is also effectually a second vacuum that you'll need to clean and maintain as the filters there can get dirty quickly. On one side of the charging stand is a storage hook to hold a vacuum attachment. However, two attachments come in the box, so you'll have to figure out where you're going to keep the other one. There are also no hooks or holders to carry the attachments on the vacuum itself. This is inconvenient if you're cleaning a whole room and want the different heads with you as you go. If you're only using it for spot cleaning here and there as you just change the attachments clean up, then return the vacuum to its dock. On the whole, this seems like a very expensive secondary vacuum and not one that you'll want to rely on for general carpet and floor cleaning. The dust bin is small and has to be emptied often. But then again the battery doesn't last long and will need to be charged often anyway. If you wanted to take a few hours to clean your whole house, the Detect Pro will be spending most of that time on the charging stand.

It definitely has a place for certain homes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The shark battery operated vacuum with self emptying feature and base is the perfect addition to my home. I have three dogs, and three cats two of which are long-haired. A mix of hard flooring throughout my home with rugs in different parts of the home. Three items that to me are worth the investment and have made routine cleanup easier 1. Roomba j7+ 2. Tineco S5 And recently purchased and for the perfect Finishing Touches 3. Shark detector Pro Auto empty system I tried a lot of different vacuums especially for my pets hair and dirt and for years actually a Shop-Vac was ok for all my general vacuuming cleanup. Step by step I've invested in other products to help my cleaning and save me time. The best uses I found for the Shark vacuum it definitely removes dirt and animal hair from my rugs and fabric furniture. It's definitely easier than pulling out the Shop-Vac to get in corners and nooks and crannies also for the random times cat litter is thrown out of the box quick and easy. I clean my car interior using the actual floor attachment with spinning brush throughout my car wherever I can use that and looking at the bin it is amazing how much dust and dog hair it can get over my shop vac and the brush roll has yet to have any Tangles of hair on it for almost a month and a half of use. Not all rugs are created equal and most of mine I can use the auto feature but a couple I use the Eco Mode because the rug will not lay still and can get jammed up in the brush but in the Eco Mode it still does a great job of pulling up hair and dirt without trying to suck up the rug. I also use it on my bed when changing sheets and it's amazing to see the kind of dander or skin or whatever you want to call that can be trapped in your mattress. I also use this to clean the ash out of my pellet grill. Battery life is short but there is a meter that you can see how much power you have but the suction and cleaning ability for rugs and carpets and any such items to me makes this item worth having and if I have to I prioritize my task with it before my cleaning days. Use it a little while put it back on the charger, let it empty do some other cleaning for a little bit and come back for it for a different area and have yet to actually run out of battery power during a task.

Light weight vacuum heavy on utility
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our household has really come to like/prefer Shark products over the last few years. It seems like everything they make is just well-engineered with lots of good thought out features. The Detect Pro is another in the list of successful products in our book. Setup: Very subjective, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the cardboard dividers housing the vacuum parts - no obnoxious styrofoam particles to cling everywhere. Each piece very intuitively clicks into place, and the air freshener piece has a very clear green triangle marking to note where to line up for installation. So simple. Then you plug in the base and done. Accessories: The Detect Pro comes with a crevice tool and an pet multi tool attachment. Only one attachment can clip onto the side the of vacuum base, but we just leave the brush behind the base since we rarely use it. Vacuuming: The biggest pro for this vacuum is how light it is compared to other handheld vacuums. With its light weight, we were worried the suctioning power would be lower, but comparing to our other vacuum, it was identical. The vacuum’s brush roll actually has brushes and fins, which allows for effective cleaning on multiple surfaces - which means we don’t have to unclick and swap out vacuum heads depending on whether we want to clean the hardwood or the carpets. The AI system actually automatically adjusts the brush roll’s spin speed and suction strength depending on the surface you vacuum as well as how many particles there are. Sounded gimmicky to us, but as you can see in our video, it actually works. Highly recommend.

A very good and versatile cordless vacuum cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s plenty to like about this vacuum cleaner. It’s cordless, not too heavy, has good suction power and the auto empty system works great. I use it to vacuum the house and it also works great vacuuming a car. I was a bit skeptical about how effective it is when vacuuming carpet since most of the time the motor was pretty quiet, however, this vacuum cleaner has clever dirt detecting tech under its hood. As soon as the sensor detected dirt, the motor would rev up and I saw the dirt accumulating in the tube. Also, the vacuum cleaner comes with three different heads, the short one works great for vacuuming car. The star of the show was the quad clean multi-surface brush roll, which has LEDs to illuminate the surface where we clean and works on both hard floor and carpet. After finish vacuuming, we dock the vacuum cleaner and the auto empty system will do its magic sucking dirt accumulating in the tube into the station. Upon completion of transferring the dirt, the station will emit nice fragrant. It’s all seamless and automatic. One particular aspect that is great about this vacuum cleaner is that it employs an effective HEPA filtration and anti-allergen system. This vacuum cleaner works great filtering the smell and there’s leaps and bounds difference from my old vacuum unit. It’s also very helpful that the brushroll is self-cleaning and it does not wrap hair. Hair accumulates properly in the dirt chamber and does not get stuck in the brushroll. Overall, this is a very good and versatile cordless vacuum cleaner.

Sleek elegant and useful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So right away you may think this is going to be a nightmare to put together. It isn’t. From box to usage in less then 5 minutes. I love the freestanding aspect of this design. No wall mounts to install. No drilling, and can go just about anywhere you have access to power Comes with standard accessories you would expect, small brush for overhead and tight spaces. And thin insert for the sofa The vacuum is a tad louder than others we have used, but not bad. The auto adjusting of power is interesting, not sure how effective it is but it does auto adjust up and down Its light. Almost anyone will be able to use this vacuum. Good low profiles so I am able to get under the kitchen chairs and some of the cabinetry we have The light is probably my favorite feature. You can see everything you are running the vacuum over Now for the auto empty bin. I like the concept, I think it is going to work well, and save a lot of trips to the garbage can. Our first couple usages we can see it empty and just work as designed. So pretty slick So now we have a nice vacuum that can stay on our top floor and we don’t have to drag the others around

Shark Cordless Detect Pro Auto Empty System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used the Shark® Cordless Detect Pro™ Auto-Empty System with QuadClean™ Multi-Surface Brushroll several days, multiple times a day and I'm impressed. Not only does it pick up cat hair and various other things but it picked up litter, tiny granules of litter. I used it on multiple surfaces with no loss of power. The power boost is helpful in getting up stubborn messes. I will clean the filters when I empty the collection canister. I'm happy not having to empty the dust and debris every time I use the vacuum. I don't feel that the Shark® Cordless Detect Pro™ Auto-Empty System with QuadClean™ Multi-Surface Brushroll is anymore noisier than my full size upright Shark vacuum. In fact to me it's quieter except when using turbo. You no longer have to change the vacuum height manually with auto detect on board. I own may Shark/Ninja products and have not been disappointed with the performance. I have given them as gifts so it's easy for me to recommend the Shark® Cordless Detect Pro™ Auto-Empty System with QuadClean™ Multi-Surface Brushroll as a gift to yourself and loved ones.

Auto-emptying Stand is a Standout Feature!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned several stick vacuums over the years and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised when I got the Shark Detect Pro in my hands. This has to be one of the best value cordless vacs out there that has an auto-empty system. I'll begin with the build. While I must admit that this is not one of the nicer looking cordless vacuums on the market, it is by no means ugly. Also, it kind of feels a bit flimsy because of the build. With that said, the benefit is that this vacuum is very light. It almost feels like a toy, but don't let that fool you when it comes to performance. I feel weird for wanting to start with not the vacuum itself, but the stand/auto-empty system. This has got to be my favorite feature of the vacuum. One of the things I dread doing is emptying the dust bin after every few cleaning sessions. Well, the hand stand automatically empties the dust bin for me after every use. Yay! Yes, I have to clear out the auto dust bin, but not very often. Plus, the stand houses my vacuum and keeps it charged. Win-win. The floor cleaning head is a bit different than what I'm used to. It works on both hard floors and carpet and does a great job. It seems to know when it changes between carpets and hard floors and adjusts the suction accordingly based on the sound. The light on the floor head is also convenient as it helps to see in dim areas of the house and also some debris on my hard flooring. Aside from the floor cleaning head, the vacuum also comes with crevice and upholstery tools. The crevice tool is as you would expect from other vacuums. Not much to write about there. I would have to say, though, that I am a bit disappointed with the upholstery tool. It looks pretty cheap and doesn't have its own spinning brush that you would see on some other competitors. With that said, I have to remind myself that for the price and the auto-emptying system, I guess it's an alright trade-off. I don't use the upholstery tool much anyways. When I do, it gets the job done. My home isn't very big, so I can’t say that I've needed to use this for an hour. With that said, the vacuum has worked well for me cleaning on "auto" for upwards of 30 minutes. I imagine if I pushed through at full power, it would drop down. Could it last for an hour? Perhaps, but I don't think most electronics last the full advertised time. Overall, I think the Shark Detect Pro provides a great value when it comes to performance and the standout feature - the auto-emptying stand. I am confident that you will be happy with this purchase.
