It works perfectly for a basic kids iPad with just the right amount of features. The only thing that is more difficult is to 'swipe up' for a small child that has been used to using the button to change viewing apps.

Switched from Kindles to iPads and not going back!

They absolutely love their iPads - never had one before and they are much easier to use since they are used to their iPhones.
