Sabbath Bloody Sabbath....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The semi-reunion effort is middle of the road affair at best. Rick rubin's production is decent, but not classic Ozzy-era Sabbath sound. No Bill Ward on drums kind of suckz.

old sound, but seems forced

Black sabbath subdued
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A solid effort sabbath gies back to a more bluesy feel, but heavy and doomy enough to give a listen

A modern take on the classic Sabbath sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sabbath doesn't reinvent the wheel here; there are plenty of songs that will remind you of older, often better classics. But this album sounds exactly like you would want it to: it has the classic Sabbath sound yet it fits comfortably in the modern age. It's also worth mentioning that while I do wish Bill Ward was here, Brad Wilk does an admirable job in his place. If this ends up being the last Black Sabbath album ever, they're definitely going out with a winner. And, yes, the bonus tracks on the deluxe version are worth the extra money.

Return of the 70's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start this off, I am a pretty big fan of Sabbath, liking all the line ups they had over the years. 13 to me is a great accomplishment from the band, they sound similar to the 70's Metal. Thats a great thing actually, Tony's guitar riffs are still catchy and bluesy, Geezers Bass is still crunchy and groovey at the same time, Ozzy still sings pretty well, he can't get the high notes like he could on past albums like Sabotage and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but he sings very well in the range he has now. Very clear, and the lower pitch actually goes along really well with the heavy bluesy music of this album. All the tracks are great and while I have favorites, they are all strong in their own way, the bonus tracks on the BB exclusive version are also great and worth the extra purchase. All in all, alot of 70's bands combacks have been lukewarm, while Black Sabbath has proven that they can release something that rivals their old works in todays industry. Good music will never die, and if this is to be Sabbaths last album, is a really great one to end it on.

Awesome disc but DLX a little pricey
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome disc and a fine return to form. Tony and Geezer sound simply amazing. Only minor complaint is on some tracks the compression is so high and causes distortion on certain devices.

great album. Good bestbuy bonus track.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a surprise. I did not expect this to be so good. The only downside is that you have to pay so much more for the bonus disc to get all of the tracks.
