After spending almost a half an hour in the store talking with the sales associate about different computers, and specifically stating that my use of this computer would be "for college, so basically looking stuff up and writing papers," I decided to buy this chromebook as the guy told me it would be perfect for what I needed it for. My dad went out and bought me the Microsoft Works 2016. Since this is a chromebook I could not install it on my computer. Thankfully, since I had not scratched to reveal the code, they allowed him to return it. I have to use the Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc apps. My first semester in school I thought they were just fine. I just completed my second semester and took a basic computer class. I was not able to do my homework or any other assignments on my own computer because I needed the Microsoft Works Suite 2016 and I only had the apps. It was very difficult for me to find another computer to use to do my work for that class. Not only that, but I realized what a HUGE downgrade the apps are compared to the actual program you can purchase for windows. When I bought this Chromebook I had $3,000 from a student refund check, so money was NOT the issue. I genuinely thought this computer would be excellent for what I needed it for, because the guy who sold it to me told me it would be. Now, over the summer and before classes start again, I'm going to have to buy a whole other different computer because my degree program is for Business Management and this laptop does not meet my needs to succeed in my classes. I'm a straight A student, but I got a B in my computer class because it was so difficult to keep up with all the work not being able to do it at home on my own computer. The real Microsoft program and the free apps are SOOOOOOO much different. I'm also a single mom of a 14 year old girl who will start high school in the fall, and we just recently moved into our own place. The last thing I have room in my budget for right now is a new laptop for myself. Had I known that this Chromebook would be the way it is, I would have bought a different WINDOWS computer the first time, when I had the money. The thing is, the associate even told me that he had the Samsung Chromebook himself, so he definitely knew the difference. Why he would recommend this laptop, and tell me it would be great for college, is beyond me. I really thought the people that work at Best Buy knew what they are talking about, that's why I went there. I tried to write this in an email to customer service but I'm not sure I even can email anybody to talk to about this. I used to think very highly of Best Buy, but this whole experience has really changed my opinion. I'm sure, since the chromebook was only $300 to begin with, it's worth VERY little for trade in value. It would be nice if somebody from Best Buy would contact me to discuss this, but I won't hold my breath.

I like the specs and for the Black Friday price which was more than 50% off was a good deal. But the Power on key was not responsive and it was a challenge to turn it on. When I went to register the product online I found out that someone had already registered the product S/N and the warranty period started 2 months before my date of purchase. That's 2 strikes. Bad product and trying to pass off a returned unit as new. When I did a chat, the agent assured me that I could bring it to the store and exchange it. She assured me that the store I specified had the product in store. Sadly, that was blatantly false. I went in 30 minutes after the store opened and the product was out of stock. 3 strokes for what should have been a simple transcation. Very sad that iconic Best Buy is not what it used to be. You can and should do better.
